Seat UK scores a deal to supply up to 100 new Ibiza superminis to blue chip support services company Babcock International Group PLC. Under the contract, Babcock's specialist fleet team will start with a group of 15 contender cars. The employees in Babcock’s engineering training division will be supplied with this batch of Spanish superminis.
To make the decision, Babcock had considered factors like environmental issues, costs and safety considerations until finally, there were only two cars being considered. Seat won after the Babcock team did a trial on the two vehicles.
What Babcock specifically chose was the ultra-frugal Ibiza 5dr 1.2 TDI E Ecomotive in luxurious S Copa trim. Its fuel economy is excellent, returning as much as 91.1 mpg and emitting only 92 g/km.
It’s also very luxurious with a set of 15-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and air conditioning – which are all offered as standard equipment. Buying the Ibiza for a fleet makes a lot of business sense actually.
The car has extremely low emissions, making it qualify for both Road Tax and London Congestion Charge exemptions.
With this model, a basic rate tax payer will incur the company car BIK with only £30.64 each month. During the Scottish Car of the Year Awards, this very frugal Ibiza was named as Eco Car of the Year.
When compared to other models in its class, it is one of the most concerned about the environment. However, it’s very fun as well. Babcock Group Fleet Manager Roland Puckett said that the SEAT was chosen due to the combination of low CO2, low BIK and high MPG aside from its numerous safety features.
The new SEAT Ibiza has superior quality and sporty character written all over its face. Its design conveys technology, precision, and youthful avant garde. The car’s distinctive centerpiece is its trapezoidal grille that features the brand’s logo.
Meanwhile, the grille’s horizontal honeycomb structure and flatter proportions, as well as its lower air intake, help emphasize the new Ibiza’s width. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned to appear accentuated on the athletic Ibiza FR model. Large fog lamps complete with integrated cornering lights are a standard feature on the Ibiza FR and are available as an option on other Ibiza versions.
SEAT gives great attention to details, and this is very apparent in the sophisticated design of Ibiza’s headlamps. These headlamps have an edgy style, which is a signature feature of the brand’s new design language, and they are integrated perfectly into the car’s sculptural form.
These headlamps come in two halogen versions. You can also opt for bi-xenon lamps or LED daytime running lights. These daytime running lights, as well as the optional LED rear lights, trace the headlamps’ form for a unique light signature, as do the optional LED rear lights.
When viewed from the side, the car looks like a precise sculpture on wheels. Its characteristic "Línea Dinámica" gracefully runs from its headlamps over its powerfully drawn wheel arches, then to the rear.
There is also a second character line that is equally sharp and that runs across the car’s muscular rear shoulders to its rear lamps. All these powerful lines and interplaying taut surfaces give the Ibiza a sporty character, for both 3-door sports coupé and 5-door models.
