Skoda Rapid Spaceback Red & Grey Collection unveiled at 2014 Worthersee

Skoda has showcased its Rapid Spaceback Red & Grey Collection at the Wörthersee show. The model is based on the Skoda Rapid Spaceback launched last year, and features Skoda Original Accessories. As the name suggests, the model – with a white body – features grey-red strips that run over its bonnet, roof and rear.

The model boasts of red 17-inch alloy wheels in SAVIO design, exterior mirror housings made of carbon and darkened rear lights. The Rapid Spaceback Red & Grey Collection features a special sports kit that includes front spoiler with black colored splitter and rear spoiler as well as decorative side moudings and diffuser in car body color and a grille frame in magic black.

The interior of the Rapid Spaceback Red & Grey Collection features a small leather package that includes a three-spoke sports steering wheel with red leather accents as well as a gear stick and hand brake finished in red leather.

The model also boasts of sports seats, aluminum pedals and door sill plates with Rapid branding. To go along with its name, the model’s instrument panel trim bar is also white and grey and red stripes. The model’s features floor mats that are finished in red stitching.

In developing the Rapid Spaceback, Skoda made sure to put the focus on customization. One such highlight of this model is the huge panoramic glass roof, though this is mainly offered as an option. Beginning from the windshield and extending all the way to the rear window, the glass roof allows passengers to get a clear view of the outside and the sky.

Overall it offers passengers a viewing space measuring 1,210 x 780 millimeters. With dimensions measuring 1,713 x 1,155 mm, this is the largest glass roof to be made available and fitted in a Skoda.

When paired with the lengthened rear window, it makes the panoramic roof that much more attractive. Meanwhile there is a glazing that starts at the windshield and this goes above the glass roof before going down to the model’s tailgate. For the extended rear window, tinted in black, it goes farther by around 10 cm in the hatchback version compared to the regular rear window of the Rapid Spaceback.

It is these two unique new style elements that ensure the Rapid Spaceback has that exclusive individuality. Going to the side view, it reveals special accents. Unlike standard hatchback models, the side of the Rapid Spaceback is more stretched and more athletic. This is what allows the model to be set apart from its rivals, be it functionally or optically.

Marking the dynamic profile of the Rapid Spaceback are clear lines, the high and sharp tornado line, and the long wheelbase of 2,602 mm. Further the Rapid Spaceback has a C-pillar and D-pillar that has a third side window. In conjunction with the slender pillars, the rather generous window areas give the interior a light and a friendly atmosphere. It also guarantees exceptional clarity.
