Smart ForTwo gets the Cityflame Edition

Article by Christian A., on January 15, 2013

The new special model smart fortwo edition cityflame is very striking with its flame-yellow body panels. To offer contrast, black paint is used on the tridion safety cell and alloy wheels. The contrasting colors are evident in the interior. Its exclusive black seats in leather optic feature prominent yellow imitation leather inserts and yellow stitching.

Order books for the smart fortwo edition cityflame are now open. It has a starting price of €14,490. The special model is offered as a coupé and a cabrio. The vehicles will arrive in dealerships in April 2013. "Edition cityflame” is the name of the newest smart fortwo special model.

This model is designed with the newest color trends in mind while also giving in to the desire of many customers to have greater individualisation. Its most obvious exterior features are the bodypanels in a remarkable pearlescent flame yellow finish (it’s also offered in black).

The yellow paintwork gives off a sporty and expressive effect to go along with the black tridion safety cell, the exclusive black-painted 3-double-spoke alloy wheels covered with wide tires (175/55 R 15 at the front and 195/50 R 15 at the rear) as well as black door mirror caps.

The same coloring is used in the interior. The seat cushions of the high-quality seats in black leather optic have a framing of yellow imitation leather inserts and make use of yellow stitching.

This yellow stitching is also seen in the instrument panel in leather appearance. Additional features include a two-section knee pad in black/yellow leather look, a 3-spoke leather sports steering wheel with shift paddles and yellow stitching, and floor mats that were embroidered with the “cityflame” word. Only 2,400 units of this model will be built.

It is based on the passion equipment line, which means that it includes a softouch automatic gear programme, electric windows, air conditioning with automatic temperature control and a transparent panoramic roof with sunblind. The standard spec includes the audio system basic. The smart fortwo edition cityflame is available with either a 52 kW mhd petrol engine or a 62 kW petrol engine.

The new-generation Smart ForTwo is available in a wider range of colors for a more striking appearance. You can now pick from seven exterior colors instead of six. Other than the additional color choice – matte light green – there’s also light blue metallic, which replaces the previous blue metallic. Additionally, you can request to have the car’s front spoiler, rear apron, and side skirts painted in the same color as its body. In the future, the fuel filler cap is also going to be painted in the body color.

Smart is extending ForTwo color choices even further with its new cabrio soft top colors of red and blue and with its tridion safety cell in brilliant white. And to match the white-colored tridion safety cell, the car’s door mirror surrounds, as well as its radiator grille, are also painted white. All the modern color constellations and possible combinations give the ForTwo an all-new face.

Moreover, the car’s LED daytime driving lights, which are optional, are a special and striking detail. The car also has three new 15” alloy wheels that also bring fresh new styling and design ideas.

Additionally, the new generation ForTwo’s interior was redesigned with a spacious feel-good atmosphere. It also has a fabric-covered instrument panel that features new styling as well as new fabric designs.

Equipment features also underline Smart’s attention to detail. These features include new dials plus contrasting dark central disc on the instrument cluster and on the dashboard instruments. Also available as options are a fabric-covered folding armrest at the center, a trip computer, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel equipped with cruise control function. Customers can also opt for ambient lighting with dimmable LED lights for a pleasant lighting feel.
