Article by Christian A., on February 20, 2012

The order books are now open for the smart fortwo sharpred. It’s a truly stunning model with its intensely red tridion safety cell and door mirror housing that form an amazing contrast to the black used on the rest of the exterior. As a coupe, it is priced from €14,490. It’s also available as a cabrio with a 52 kW mhd petrol engine or a 62 kW petrol engine.

The order books are now open for this special model. It will start to arrive at dealerships in May 2012. The smart fortwo edition sharpred stands out due to its impressive contrast of elegant black and extravagant red.

It gives an effect similar to a bar’s red neon sign against a black night sky. The tridion safety cell and door mirror housing come with bright red paintwork while the other parts of the exterior are in black.

The front apron and rear trim panel have been grained while the side skirts get a high-gloss black finish. The front and rear axles are installed with wide tires that measure 175/55 R 15 for the front and 195/50 R 15 for the rear. In addition, the 15" 3-double-spoke alloy wheels get a radiant black finish. The stunning contrasts are seen even in its interior. The seats and the instrument panel have red double stitching, offering colored accents.

Black leather is used on these seats. A black leather look is also used in the instrument panel and knee pad. The basic audio system and unique floor mats are offered as standard.

Only 1800 units of this special edition will be produced. Since it is based on the passion equipment line, its standard features include softouch automatic gear program, electric windows, air conditioning with automatic temperature control and a panoramic roof with sunblind.

The optional features include electric power steering, heated seats, a lockable glove compartment, the smart sound system with five loudspeakers, and the smart audio system navigation/multimedia.

The latest generation of the smart fortwo features a redesigned interior that now feels fresher and is more spacious. It comes with a newly styled full fabric-covered instrument panel as well as an instrument cluster and dashboard instruments with new dials contrasted by a dark central disc.

Customers may avail of optional interior features like three-spoke leather steering wheel with cruise control function; a trip computer; a fabric-covered folding center armrest; a new ambient lighting with dimmable LED units.

For the sake of practicality, the stylish interior of new generation smart fortwo is provided with a number of stowage elements like the standard seat pockets on the sides of the seats, optional large stowage box for the lower section of the center console and the optional glove compartment with clip function. Moreover, the tailgate of the new smart fortwo could now be operated using only one hand.

For the new generation of the smart fortwo, the brand is making available an array of innovation communication and entertainment systems. The car’s new audio system features an integrated navigation system with a 16.5-cm display and a Bluetooth hands-free system. Moreover, the system includes USB and AUX ports for external devices as well as an iPod control interface.
