Subaru of America sold over half-a-million vehicles to retail customers in 2014

Article by Christian A., on December 30, 2014

Subaru of America, Inc. reached another milestone by selling over 500,000 vehicles to retail customers in a single calendar year. Subaru is bound to post its seventh straight year of growth in the US, from 187,699 vehicles in 2008 to more than 500,000 units this year.

Subaru’s gains can be attributed to improved vehicle offerings and an enhanced retailer network as well as targeted and award-winning marketing.

The carmaker has been making its vehicles more able to cater to the needs of its US customers – larger, improved interiors, better technology and safety features like the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. Its growing number of retailers also improved their amenities and sales process to keep up with the surging sales.

No current model isn’t a contributor to the brand’s success. In fact, current Impreza models are the best-sellers among all generations while the Outback and the Forester now reaches combined volume of 300,000 units annually.

Its newest model, the XV Crosstrek, also contributed 60,000 units to this year’s sales. Likewise the all-new Legacy sedan is on its best sales year ever. Subaru’s sporty models like the WRX and STI are also enjoying highest sales levels ever, especially after the carmaker launched the all-new 2015 models.

According to Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer at Subaru of America, the brand has grown so steeply and so steadily over the last seven years – a testament to its products and commitment of its retailers. He added that they expect 2015 to be another record year for Subaru. [source: Subaru]
