Suzuki will air ‘Wicked Weather’ ad for Kizashi sport sedan during Super Bowl

Article by Christian A., on January 28, 2011

A commercial for American Suzuki Motor Corp.’s Kizashi sport sedan will air during the Super Bowl – the first time that the carmaker has an ad for the event. This ad is one of many from automotive brands that have bought a commercial spot for the year's biggest TV event.

Suzuki’s 30-second Super Bowl spot is called “Wicked Weather” and it will be seen in 19 markets that are focused in the eastern U.S. and seaboard, and in the Southeast.

In this commercial, a driver is evading a group of dangerous snowball-wielding snowmen with the help of the Kizashi's optional all-wheel-drive system. Suzuki wants consumers who drive on snowy, icy roads to consider the Kizashi and its optional AWD system.

Other automakers that have ads for the Super Bowl include Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. In 2010, Suzuki’s advertising presence in the U.S. was scant.

Its U.S. sales dropped by 38% from 2009. In Kizashi’s first full year on sale, its volume totaled 6,138 in 2010. The “Kizashi Kicks” marketing campaign was launched earlier this month. [via autonews - sub. required]
