Tata Motors' Australian distributor, Fusion Automotive, has developed a distinct concept vehicle for the launch of the Tata Motors brand in the country. Fusion Automotive will unveil the uniquely designed concept vehicle at the National 4×4 & Outdoors Show and Fishing & Boating Expo, slated on August 23-25 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
The concept vehicle was designed and built in a joint venture between Fusion Automotive and Tata Motors, with the design team headed up by Walkinshaw Automotive Chief Designer Julian Quincey.
It was based on the Tata Xenon and was developed to make a bold statement about the Fusion Automotive and Tata Motors partnership in the Australian market. It also represents Tata’s brand position of value, strength and safety and most of all, will announce the arrival of the Tata Xenon to the Australian market with the Tuff Truck, which adopts every element of the original Xenon’s bold and muscular design.
The Tata Motors Xenon “Tuff Truck” features a distinctly designed body kit and accessories kit that includes the wheels, snorkel and sports bar with the roof, driving and spot lights by Narva. Tata's design team gave strong emphasis on the Xenon’s strong wheel arch design, making it as a key feature. The team also focused initially on increasing the vehicle's wheel size and width to make it capable of fitting in road tires.
The vehicle's uniquely designed 20” wheels are developed from a solid billet of aluminum. The Xenon's tough yet chiseled looks provide the 4x4 a strong and dynamic stance. The design team also provided the Xenon a state-of-the-art roof light bar that combines the unique roof rack with a custom Narva LED Xenon lighting rig, making the vehicle gain the attributes of a typical 4x4 vehicle. The design team also integrated driving lamps and DRLs to ensure the Xenon could see and be at night.
"Tata Motors products are built to cater for some of the toughest and harshest conditions on earth and with the launch of the brand new and uniquely configured Tata Xenon, we wanted to create a concept car that reflected Australians love of the outdoors and the ruggedness of our landscape" says Darren Bowler, Managing Director Fusion Automotive.
