Three more 2014 Abarth Track Experience events scheduled this year

Article by Christian A., on August 21, 2014

The 2014 Abarth Track Experience will be happening at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.; Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn.; and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. – giving Fiat 500 Abarth owners more opportunities to develop their driving skills on tracks.

During the one-day events, drivers will have a chance to pilot Abarths and test their skills in four driving modules: autocross, head-to-head challenge, driving dynamics and performance drive. At the end of the day, they will shotgun with professional drivers who will push the Abarths to the limit.

Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand North America, remarked that they are expanding the Abarth Track Experience schedule to provide opportunities for drivers develop their driving skills in a safe track environment.

Among the vehicles scheduled for the events are 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth and Abarth Cabrio with tuned six-speed automatic transmissions mated to 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine that provides up to 183 ft.-lb. of torque and 157 hp of output.

The vehicles’ six-speed automatic transmission has been reinforced with more clutch plates and a more robust heat treatment to allow for higher torque capability.

The exclusive, Abarth-calibrated Sport mode features fuel-cut upshifts, rev-matching downshifts and brake-assist downshifts. It also features corner gear hold, fast-off gear hold and a more aggressive pedal map.
