Silverstone Auctions will attempt to auction off a Toleman TG184-2 Formula One car driven by Ayrton Senna in his debut F1 season at The Spring Sale on May 16. This amazing car, which has made a mark in motorsport history, has become famous for having been used by Senna to get a second place finish in the rainy 1984 Monaco GP, where he first displayed his astonishing talent. According to the managing director of Silverstone Auctions Nick Whale, this race car is one of the most important items that it has ever offered. Since then, Senna’s achievements have reached amazing heights.
Many even consider him as the greatest F1 driver ever. This would be a main attraction at the auction since it’s extremely rare to get any motorsport item that could be tracked back to Ayrton Senna. For the last 16 years, the Toleman had stayed in private ownership. Senna had driven this car to place third in the British and seventh in the Canadian Grand Prix.
On Silverstone Auctions’ first auction of the year, it had offered Senna’s helmet and race suit. The helmet fetched £74,750 while the race suit was sold for £35,650. These are both significantly higher than their pre-sale estimates. At this upcoming auction, there will be an incredible lineup of race cars, modern sports cars, and motorcycles as well as “automobilia.” It will also put up for action a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, which is expected to be priced at between £190,000 to £210,000.
