Top Gear Live’s absolute supercar commute

Article by Christian A., on November 23, 2011

The Absolute Radio Christian O’Connell Breakfast show team rode on some of the world's most prestigious vehicles to bring them to work one morning. Top Gear Live provided the fleet of Supercar taxis. The all-action vehicle show will be at London ExCel from November 24 to 27. DJ Christian O’Connell rode on a £350,000 Lamborghini Murcielago -- a rare model with only five units existing in the world. O'Connell commented that the commute was something he "won’t be forgetting in a hurry," adding that it was a "fantastic experience."

Meanwhile, co-host Richie Firth enjoyed the ride in a £111,995 Audi R8 V8 Coupe. Travel presenter Maggie Doyle had the most thrilling journey, as she rode on the open-topped, 520bhp-per-tonne Caterham Superlight R500. This model is one of the few vehicles to beat the Bugatti Veyron around the Top Gear track.

It is also one of the high-performance vehicles that will be piloted by The Stig around the purpose-built indoor racetrack that makes its launch at this year's Top Gear Live. Moreover, newsreader Andrew Bailey was on the stylish, gull-winged, super-sleek, Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster. All of the automobiles will be at this year’s Top Gear Live show at ExCel, where Clarkson, Hammond and May will be recreating their unique approach to vehicle appreciation once again.
