Toyota filed a new trademark for the Supra name

Article by Christian A., on February 17, 2014

Oh, the Toyota Supra is preparing to hit the showrooms and we do know this as the Japanese carmaker filed a new trademark application for the ‘Supra’ name. Filed on February 10th, the application covers “Automobiles and structural parts thereof”. Toyota was rumored to be working on a new Supra, but when the manufacturer unveiled the FT-1 Concept back in January at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, we knew something is happening although the carmaker denied it.

According to other rumors, the upcoming Toyota Supra will come with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.5-liter V6 turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor that will offer a combined output of more than 400 hp.

Regarding the design, we do expect a production variant of the impressive FT-1 Concept as it will make the new Toyota Supra the best-looking Japanese sports car on the market.
