Toyota Camry, which is now in its seventh generation, continues to be America’s bestselling car for over a decade now. Its 2012 version features a sophisticated and valiant new design combined with a wide interior, new and improved dynamics for driving and a quieter ride like never before. The Camry models are known for advanced safety measures and this new version is no exception. It is also equipped with exceptional fuel economy as well as an improved multimedia technology which all result to the best version of the Toyota Camry ever.
First presented in 1983, the Toyota Camry is set to create the prototype of a modern midsize car while setting standards in quality, reliability as well as dependability combined with a quiet and comfortable ride. Since then, Toyota has sold Camry units totaling more than 15 million all over the world.
Toyota’s Division group General Manager and Vice President Bob Carter said that this new version’s core values include efficiency, safety, reliability as well as comfort all combined with an appealing driving experience. For years, the competition has been fierce in the midsize sedan segment and this new version is designed particularly to keep Camry on the top of the race.
This version offers as well three powertrain choices, which all provide a better fuel efficiency and a more proactive performance. All models are equipped with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that provides 178 horsepower (a nine hp increase) and a peak torque of 170 lb.-ft. The EPA-estimated figures for fuel economy are 25 mpg for the city, 35 mpg for highway, and 28 mpg when combined.
The 2012 Toyota Camry will be the seventh generation of this series and there is a lot riding on it. Not unexpected as the Camry is the best-selling car in the U.S. for 9 nine years straight. In fact, for the last 14 years it was the top selling vehicle in 13 of them. This latest version of the Camry will come with a more stylish design on the outside and the inside, offering a larger amount of space.
Further, driving dynamics is better and the ride is guaranteed to be quieter than ever. It also offers safety systems that are the best in class. It also comes with exceptional fuel economy and is fitted with multi-media technology. Suffice to say, this may be the best Camry to come from the brand.
Like with the previous generations, three choices for the powertrain will be offered and each has been improved in order to deliver performance that is more responsive and fuel economy that is better than ever. The standard engine fitted to all models will be the four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine. While this has been part of previous models, this has been revised for the 2012 Camry. Thus, output is up by 9 hp at 178 hp with peak torque of 170 lb.-ft. Meanwhile fuel economy comes at an EPA-estimated 25 mpg for city and 35 mpg for highway.
Combined rating is at 28 mpg, which is 2 mpg better than the prior generation. Further, the engine utilizes the Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent system or Dual VVT-i. What this does is manage the valve timing not just on the intake but also on the exhaust camshafts. Thus, both performance and engine efficiency are optimized no matter what the speed is.
By having the Acoustic Control Induction System, or ACIS, torque is optimized across a wide range of speeds. For the SE and the XLE trims, the brand will be offering the option to have the 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine. Output has been measured at 268 hp available at 6,200 with torque at 248 lb.-ft. and accessible at 4,700 rpm.
With the various improvements done, EPA-estimated ratings of the fuel economy are expected to be 30 mpg for highway and 21 mpg for city, the best when it comes to the present choices of V6 midsize sedans.
First introduced back in 1983, the Camry would go on to set the pattern for many contemporary midsize sedans. In addition to offering a quiet and comfortable ride, it set new standards when it comes to Dependability, Quality, and Reliability. Ever since its release, at least 15 million units have been sold around the world.
