Toyota Motor Corp.’s redesigned 2014 4Runner mid-size sports utility vehicle will have its global debut at 1:15 p.m., April 27, 2013 at the 2013 Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California. This will be Toyota’s first-ever public launch at a major music festival. The Toyota 4Runner has been in the carmaker’s SUV lineup for almost three decades.
The vehicle remains to be one of the few fully capable SUVs available in its segment. The fifth-generation 4Runner combines jagged body-on-frame construction with suspension technology that provides ride comfort similar to car-based platforms. The 4Runner could be availed in a number of configurations and in three models: top-of-the-line Limited, a well-equipped SR5, and a Trail grade suited for off-road driving.
In its seventh year as presenting sponsor of the Stagecoach Music Festival, Toyota will commence the three-day event with vintage circus-themed fan experiences, which will be then followed by the unveiling of the 2014 4Runner. The unveiling of the SUV will occur on a distinct Toyota stage and will be hosted by Buzz Brainard, a SiriusXM radio personality.
Chart-topping country recording artist Dierks Bentley will perform during the unveiling. As part of the unveiling celebration, Toyota invites fans to participate in a sweepstakes from April 25 to April 29 for a chance to win one of six guitars bearing the autograph of Dierks Bentley. Interested fans could obtain more information about the sweepstakes by visiting Toyota USA’s Facebook page and at toyota.com/stagecoachsweepstakes/terms.html.
Trail grade now comes with new color-keyed bumpers and overfenders. It still features an aggressive hood scoop as well as front and rear bumper accents in silver. All grades of the Toyota 4Runner now feature a roof rack as standard.
The premium Limited features a front design marked by a new grille, a chrome-plated grille insert and chrome front bumper extending to the fog lamp bezels. Likewise, chrome trim could also be found on the rear bumper, side molding and roof rack. Instead of halogen lamps, the headlights are now projector beams, with the headlamps and rear combination lamps employing LED technology.
Both the SR5 and Trail grades of the 4Runner ride on newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels while the Limited grade features the same 20-inch alloy wheels, but are now finished in black prior to machining. All grades are provided with a full-size spare tire.
Customers could have their 2014 4Runner wrapped in any of the eight available exterior colors. Four of these are carried over from the previous model: Black, Blizzard Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic. Four colors are new: Attitude Black Metallic, Barcelona Red Metallic, Nautical Blue Metallic and Super White.
Inside, the new 2014 Toyota 4Runner has also been refined. For instance, both the SR5 and Trail grades now feature Soft Touch door trim. They also feature leather shift knob and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
