The 2014 Lexus CT 200h compact luxury hybrid features revised exterior as well as updated features while still having an MSRP of $32,050, excluding a delivery, processing and handling fee of $910. The 2014 CT also boasts of providing impressive fuel economy at EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 43/40/42 mpg city/highway/ combined.
It also dons a new sporty look thanks to an updated front fascia that includes a full Lexus spindle grille, new front bumper, LED daytime running lights and updated fog lamp surrounds. Its exterior is further complemented by a new five-spoke 17-inch wheel design, new rear bumper design, LED rear license plate lighting and larger rear spoiler as well as aero-stabilizing fins, shark fin antenna and scratch-resistant clear coat. The cabin features a thinner Display Audio (DA)/Navigation screen which boast of next generation multimedia system like HD Radio real-time traffic and weather.
Models fitted with the optional navigation system get generation-two Remote Touch Interface. The hybrid now features standard six-speaker and premium 10-speaker audio systems. Offered as standard are a redesigned leather shift knob and sliding sun visors. Display Audio and Navigation both features Bluetooth 3.0 and dual USB. The steering wheel was also updated to provide a better feel.
The metallic interior ornamentation is complemented by Parchment NuLuxe and perforated Flaxen leather. A new exterior color – Redline 00 is now available, featuring a highly scratch resistant self-restoring coat. A sporty version of the 2014 CT 200h, the F SPORT, also got updates that made it more impressive. The updates include newly designed 17-inch 5-twin spoke alloy wheels with two-tone graphite and machine finish as well as a front bumper with F SPORT mesh grille. The CT F SPORT features a new black contrast roof, new rear spoiler with two large air ducts, and mesh fog lamp inserts and black surround.
To differentiate this version from the rest of the CT line, it features F SPORT exterior badging. The CT 200h F SPORT is available in two unique exterior colors -- Ultra White and Ultra Sonic Blue Mica.
The Lexus CT 200h is powered by a combo of a 1.8-liter in-line four-cylinder gas engine and a 650 Volt motor/generator -- for a combined output of 134hp. The powertrain is paired to an Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT) for improved fuel efficiency and driving pleasure. Lexus will start selling the CT 200h in late January or early February 2014.
Featuring a sleeker, fixed design, the available center screen – on models with the optional navigation system –can be divided into three sections. Interestingly, the screen can be personalized as a single display showing just the navigation/map. It can also be configured as a dual display, showing the navigation/map and audio, compass or other function. Moreover, users could customize the screen to employ three displays, showing the navigation/map, audio and weather.
HD Radio, with the available Display Audio and navigation system, is offering a number of free services – like basic traffic maps and weather forecasts -- when the car is being driven within HD Radio range. When the navigation system is taken into the equation, the new CT 200h is able to deliver full and predictive traffic updates, weather forecasts as well as Doppler radar.
When the optional navigation is availed, the new CT 200h is also fitted with Lexus Enform and the App Suite voice-enabled apps that allow users to search the Internet (through Bing), check in on Facebook Places and tune in to Internet radio like Pandora or iHeartRadio. These apps also allow users to search business reviews on Yelp, make restaurant reservations (through OpenTable) and even purchase movie tickets (via MovieTickets.com). Enform provides access – once the smartphone is paired via Bluetooth wireless or the USB connection -- to the subscription-free Lexus App Suite to take advantage of these functions.
The new CT 200h could also be fitted with the available Display Audio that comes with the next-generation Remote Touch Control, thereby allowing one-push confirmation for operating climate, audio, phone and the optional navigation system. In addition, the rear back-up camera now features dynamic gridlines, guiding drivers into a parking garage or any tight spaces.
