Infiniti sports sedans have always been known for their strong presence and their exceptional proportions. This is still present in the new Q50 with the difference being it brings with it a new dimension when it comes to premium style. The exterior reveals a number of signature design features the brand is known for. These include the crescent-cut C-pillar, dynamic arch roofline, and of course, the “double arch” grille.
Its front section has been made aggressive with the sport front fascia being the same as that on the Q50 sport models. The new grille has a three-dimensional look with its textural quality made possible by how elaborate the detail is of the chrome surround and the wave mesh pattern surface. The addition of the unique LED headlights mixed in with the sharp lines of the mark lights give it that almost human appearance.
Starting from the “double arch” grille, there is a character line that is dynamic but smooth. As it starts to rise from the grille, it creates that strong first impression. After that, it actively flows on the side of the body, similar to a wave, before eventually combining with the rear section.
This creates a profile that is not only intriguing but also highly fluid. In fact, this character line shows the full the sporty and dynamic stance of the Q50. Commenting on the Q50, Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura said that it mirrors the direct influence of the brand’s concepts dubbed as the “Infiniti Trilogy.” In particular, he added, the Q50 reflects the Essence.
Even then it remains to honor many of the well-known design dynamics of the past Infiniti sports sedan models, he continued. Nakamura added further that the tightened and sporty appearance of the new Q50 manages to combine well with the wider and lower proportions. Add in the fact that the interior roominess has been enhanced, resulting to that striking effect on both exterior and interior, he said.
