Video: BMW M4 Coupe visits the Ultimate Racetrack in latest commercial

BMW revealed one of its best commercials for an M model and as expected, the star is the brand new M4 Coupe. Dubbed the ‘Ultimate Racetrack’, the new commercial shows the BMW M4 Coupe drifting on an aircraft carrier. Although the commercial features computer-generated imagery we do admit that the M4 Coupe fitted with a manual transmission made quite a buzz among the auto enthusiasts.

For those who don’t know, the BMW M4 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter high-revving six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that generates 431 hp and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque.

As a result, the M4 Coupe is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). With the optional M Driver’s Package, top speed is increased at 280 km/h or 174 mph.

In the United States, the BMW M4 Coupe starts at $64,200, excluding destination and handling fees of $950.

The superior performance and excellent handling attributes of the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M4 Coupe were precisely conveyed through their stunning design. As Karim Habib, Head of Design BMW Automobiles, puts it, the outstanding performance capability of the two BMW M models should be very apparent at first glimpse.

He remarked that the exterior design of both the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 offers a visual impact that takes BMW M’s design language to a higher degree of expression, as emphasized by its a purposeful nature, expressive charm as well as dynamic verve.

Both the BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe have a distinctive and expressive front end marked by its robustly defined three-dimensionality and dynamic contours. As BMW M creations, both the M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe feature characteristic M design elements like the highly distinctive twin-bar kidney grille with black painted grille bars and bear the M logo, thereby reflecting the styling of the BMW M double-spoke wheels.

In addition, both the M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe feature a modern interpretation of the twin headlight arrangement that could be optionally specified with LED technology as well as by the dynamic front apron with three large intakes that supply air to cool down their powerful engine and brakes.

Likewise, both the M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe feature a bonnet with the characteristic power dome that doesn’t only indicate the performance potential of the M TwinPower Turbo engine but also allows for more room for the intercooler. Furthermore, the new M models are provided with stunning exterior mirrors with twin-stalk mounts, designed to help optimize the aerodynamics of these new units.

The expressiveness of the front ends of the both BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe are extended to the flanks, which are marked by hallmark BMW proportions -- long bonnet, long wheelbase, set-back cabin as well as short front overhang. All of these were further emphasized by familiar M design elements. Habib noted that the dynamic potential of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 are underscored by their muscular wheel arches and striking surface forms.
