Volkswagen launches Caravelle Business

Article by Christian A., on June 11, 2012

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has designed a flagship model that also doubles as a mobile conference room. Ever since the 1950s with the Samba bus, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has been recognized by businesses for its excellent lineup of people carriers. It’s now getting praises for the Caravelle, which embodies its commitment to quality, image, durability and space.

The Caravelle Business is designed to provide business travellers and VIPs with their latest communication requirements. This new flagship model was intended to be a highly luxurious vehicle that comes with a mobile conference room with the most advanced technology such as the Wi-Fi internet connectivity and Bluetooth.

The Caravelle Business is more spacious and convenient than majority of luxury limousines because it is a six-seater (which include the driver) and it has a sociable rear lounge area with four individual seats and a table that could be adjusted. Similar to other Caravelles, the Business variant’s two middle seats could swivel to face forwards or backwards. The Business also has the best quality Nappa leather upholstery while instead of the rear bench seat, it now has a posh twin seat console that could be adjusted.

It could also be heated with an integrated fridge between the seats. The Caravelle Business has an interior that is improved with the use of stylish burr wood inserts in the rear passenger compartment. It also comes with curtain airbags for increased safety.

For the convenience of the driver, the following features were placed: cruise control, satellite navigation with 6.5 in colour screen and 30GBhard drive, a leather multi-function steering wheel, lane change assist to provide warnings of vehicles in the driver's blind spot, and a programmable heater to guarantee that the interior’s temperature is always comfortable. The car has a second battery with cut-off relay to make sure that the rear seating area could be independently powered.

The Caravelle Business may be discreet but it’s still stylish with privacy glass, a new set of 17in alloy wheels, darkened rear light clusters, electrically folding door mirrors and a laminated windscreen for enhanced noise damping. In addition, it features front and rear parking sensors with reversing camera and Xenon headlights with automatic activation, LED daytime running lights, headlamp washer system and heated front washer jets.

Rear passengers will be able to gain access as well as exit the car easily due to its electric sliding side doors. It offers an impressive performance from its 2.0-litre 180PS bi-turbo TDI engine, the brand’s most powerful engine yet. The Caravelle Business delivers 400 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm, and features DSG transmission as standard.

As a result, the Caravelle Business offers superior handling but is frugal, offering 34.9 mpg on the combined cycle and getting Euro5 emissions of 214 g/km. A variety of competitive finance options are available so that consumers would be able to direct their business expenses, maintenance and service plans well. The Caravelle Business is now on sale with retail prices starting from £53,856 (plus VAT), or £56,069 (plus VAT) with 4MOTION transmission.
