Volkswagen launches digital sales offensive in the United States

In order to overtake Toyota and become world’s largest car manufacturer by 2018, Volkswagen announced that it has launched a digital sales offensive in the United States. Apparently, this move will roll out to the company's other key sales markets.

The new online configurator is the core of the new digital strategy and shows that Volkswagen saw the growing importance of the Internet and automobile purchases.

Furthermore, the German manufacturer announced that the United States was chose to get the online configurator first, because we are the leading globally in matters related to internet.

Also, all the features are iPad compatible. Volkswagen Word, is a new digital customer center, which is being introduced as the third building block of the strategy. Arranging a test drive is also less complicated now.

"If a specific feature is selected with the configurator, other feature combinations that are the most popular with other customers appear," a VW spokesman said. "According to studies, these kinds of purchase recommendations are highly relevant to individual purchase decisions." "The configurator asks the user for his location and conveys a suitable selection of dealers with Google Maps technology," VW said.
