Volkswagen may bring the Scirocco in the United States

Article by Christian A., on January 17, 2011

A new nameplate might make its debut in the United States once Jonathan Browning (President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America) gets his way now that he runs Volkswagen's U.S. operations.

Browning said that he wants to see add the familiar performance car of the 1980s and 1990s to the lineup a.k.a. the Scirocco, but he also added that Volkswagen is not able to make the case to bring it in this (product) cycle.

In the future, the Scirocco might be added to Volkswagen’s lineup, that’s for sure. Still, Volkswagen will bring the Golf R performance car in the United States but also new cars such as the 2012 Vw Passat unveiled last week at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show but also a new 2012 Beetle.

Browning also added that Volkswagen wants to grow in the United States and won’t sit still. Moreover, in order to improve its sales, Browning told Automotive News' World Congress that the company will also improve the experience with dealers.

Apparently, customers knocked VW dealers for being short on product knowledge, but also for the time they needed to sign the papers to buy a brand new Volkswagen.

Moreover, Volkswagen will also improve their quality. "We know that we simply must improve our quality," said Jonathan Browning. [via usatoday]
