Polestar is notably known to be Volvo's internal performance specialists, and around last year Polestar revealed to the public that it will utilize electrification to further advance the power of various Volvo vehicles. Only recently, the Swedish marque announced that Polestar is now a separately-branded electrified global high performance car company. Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President of Volvo, will immediately fill in the position of Chief Executive Officer at the former tuning studio in the bid to accelerate the process of establishing Polestar as a standalone organization. Ingenlath is also the one responsible for the company's magnificent new design language that is spotted on the XC70, XC90 and S90.
This news finally clarified the rumors flying about earlier this month, and now we can take a peek of the newly-made Polestar logo that will be adorned on the upcoming performance EV releases. Hakan Samuelsson, President and Chief Executive of Volvo cars, said that by putting Thomas up the Polestar organization ladder, it directly reflects the commitment to set-up a truly distinct standalone brand within the Volvo Car Group.
Samuelsson also said that Polestar will be a believable competitor in the emerging worldwide market for high performance electrified cars. And with this, the company will be able to market electrified cars to the world's most challenging, progressive drivers found in all parts of the world. Meanwhile, Jonathan Goodman will also join Polestar's organization by taking on the position of Chief Operation Officer, leaving behind his previous position as Senior Vice President Corporate Communication of Volvo Cars.
Volvo and Polestar joined forces in July 2015 after working together in Motosport since 1996, all of this made possible when the Swedish company gained 100 percent of Polestar Performance. Starting now, Polestar will spawn Polestar-marked vehicles and will no longer bear the logo of the Swedish marque. The logo looks like a neat cross shape that will either look like some kind of origami bird or 2 boomerangs colliding, depending on the perspective of the viewer. Furthermore, the said division will now market optimization packages directed to Volvo models under the Polestar Engineered brand.
Polestar revealed in a press release that they will continue to develop and manufacture world class electrified high performance vehicles. The company will also take advantage of particular tech and engineering synergies with Volvo releases that will possibly lead to important economies of scale.
Ingenlath further commented that he is really excited to undertake the incoming challenges of setting up the impressive brand and coming up with a fantastic portfolio of superb products and directing the enthusiasm they have throughout the Polestar family. He further declared that the next chapter in Polestar's history has only just began. In the coming months, we are expecting more information from Polestar with regards to their further announcements about their future products.
