Article by Christian A., on October 29, 2014

Volkswagen has quietly introduced the Street Up, a special version of its popular city car designed for those feeling special. The first things you notice when looking at this special edition of the Volkswagen Up are the ‘street’ lettering on the doors, the special yellow graphics found above the side sills as well as the gray and yellow stripes that run from the front hood to the roof.

According to the official press release, this new edition arrives with 16-inch ‘upsilon’ alloy wheels, chrome-finished fog lamps as well as with a sport suspension that improves the handling. Inside, the vehicle features special seats that continue the exterior theme thanks to the colored stitching.

Same stitching is found on the floor mats, gear knob and handbrake lever. In addition, the Street Up gets the “Black Style” design package that arrives with black headliner and tinted side windows. As standard, this edition comes with the RCD 215 radio and air conditioning.

The engines available on the Street Up deliver between 60 hp (44 kW) to 75 hp (55 kW). Volkswagen offers also a natural gas (CNG) version which delivers a total output of 68 hp (50 kW). This version needs 2.9 kg of fuel to travel for 100 km and according to VW this costs only 3 euros per 100 km. Pricing of the VW Street Up starts at 13,575 euros, in Germany.
