The Zarooq Sandracer 500 GT was first showcased as a concept car back in December 2015 at the Abu Dhabi Gran Prix. Now, the model has begun production in United Arab Emirates, and it is packed with 525 horses.
Ninety percent of the time, concept cars promise more than what the production cars turn out to be. But in the case of the Sandracer, Auto Guide says that the production model of the Zarooq off-roader has more upgrades to offer than the concept vehicle.
Starting off with the engine, the concept promised it would have a V6. But the production model comes equipped with a 6.2 liter V8 engine paired with a five-speed sequential gearbox that pushes the Sandracer to deliver 525 horsepower and 487 pound feet of torque. This luxury buggy has a top speed of 137 miles per hour, and power is delivered to the rear wheels.
With that much power, there is no doubt that this monster could go fast despite the fact that it weighs a total of 2,866 pounds (1,300 kilograms).
But if you notice, the design implies that the off roader isn't just for outdoor use. It sits on racing suspension Intrax, which can be adjusted by 17.7 inches. Drivers can lower the suspension for on road use, and when the road becomes a little trickier to handle, they can raise it.
As for the exterior design, it was styled by German tuner, Mansory. The body was built with carbon fiber pieces all over, and as you can see, the tuner can't seem to stop adding scoops, spoilers, and an oversized trim. Inside the two-seater Sandracer's cabin, you will mostly find leather, air conditioning, and the usual stuff you would expect to find in a custom vehicle worth $450k including a digital dashboard, climate control, and an infotainment system.
The Zarooq Sandracer will definitely stand out in a country that is filled with Bugattis and hypercars. It’s also expected to make waves in Monaco where the company holds an office. Only 35 units will be produced until regulars at the Casino de Monte-Carlo demand for more.
The Sandracer 500 GT is currently available only in the UAE, and other sources say that they will start delivering to Dubai and Europe by fall this year. It comes with a price tag that is equivalent to $450,000. And if the standard model isn't good enough for you, Zarooq is open to accept bespoke customizations.
If you have always wanted an off-roader, and have the money to get one of these, don’t even have second thoughts as this is the perfect car whether you’re driving on city roads or off it.
