Fate of the Furious reveals more in new international trailer

The Fate of the Furious has released a new international trailer and just like the ones before it, it is full of cars and explosions. This eight installment of the highly successful Fast and Furious franchise had already released trailers in the past which slowly showed the plot to its many fans. This latest trailer though appears to reveal more as to what is really happening behind the scenes.

As seen from the new trailer, the main plot appears to be a Cipher (played by Charlize Theron) seducing Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto back into the criminal world. The crew therefore must set out not only to stop a villain from spreading chaos across the world but to also take back the person responsible for making them a family.

Much like the trailers that came before it, this new one has the explosions and fast cars to satisfy any action fan. It also puts in the idea of family. The trailer itself begins with Dom racing against Letty (played by the wonderful Michelle Rodriguez) using classic cars on Cuban streets. In addition to the usual classic cars, the Dodge Challenger Demon will make its first on-screen appearance. There are also a couple of exotic cars, a tank, and while it may sound ridiculous, a submarine.

As part of the theme of the franchise, Furious 8 will take viewers to different sports around the world like the iconic streets in Cuba, the lanes of Ohio, and even Iceland’s frozen lakes.

Other members of the wonderful cast include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who reprises his role as the awesome Hobbs. Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Chris “Ludacris” Bridges (Tej Parke), and Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey) make a return as well. Kurt Russell (Frank Petty) is there as well and even Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) comes back. Elsa Pataky (Elena Neves) will also be making an appearance. Finally, Tego Calderon (Tego Leo) and Don Omar (Rico Santos) will also be in this film as both were last seen in Fast Five.

This film will also be the second in the franchise not to include Paul Walker, who played Brian O'Conner, after his tragic death due to an accident. The first time was in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Walker’s death happened while filming of Furious 7 was still ongoing. The use of CGI and his brothers helped finished that last movie. This time, fans are excited to see as well how the family will fare without Brian. When Dom appearing to be on the other side of the fence, it seems that the family will have its hands full.

Furious was both a critical and a commercial success earning $1.5 billion at the box office and is the sixth highest grossing film of all time beating the likes of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2.

Furious 8 will open in theaters on April 14.
