The 2010 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita is a very rare supercar. After all, while three examples were planned for this supercar model, only two examples were realized. Just recently, this rare Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita was sold in an auction supervised by Mecum Auctions. With an auction estimate of between $2.7 million and $3 million, Mecum Auctions was able to sell this rare supercar for $2.6 million.
Interestingly, the original owner of this rare supercar was no other than Floyd Mayweather, who is considered as one of the greatest in the sport of boxing. His love of the sports has allowed him to earn hundreds of millions of dollars. For those who don’t know Mayweather aside from him being a first-class professional boxer, the undefeated sportsman also has another love – cars. With hundreds of millions of dollars at his disposal, it is fairly easy for Mayweather to purchase exotic cars like those built Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce and Bugatti as well as a Koenigsegg.
Mayweather used to own this very rare supercar – the 2010 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita. It cost him around $4.8 million to buy this supercar back then, making it ridiculously pricey and exotic. This price is fairly logical, considering the exclusiveness, level of craftsmanship, technology and design that went into the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita.
Koenigsegg initially wanted to build three supercars that feature the stunning Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave carbon fiber. Before this material was invented, carbon fiber was only available in black. But thanks to Koenigsegg’s new processing method, the carbon fibers could now be coated with diamond finish, allow them to sparkle like silvery white diamonds when sunlight hits them. Because of these properties, the planned three supercars with carbon fiber were named “Trevita,” which is a Swedish abbreviation that means “three whites.”
However, only two examples of the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita were made because of the complicated and complex process in producing the Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave carbon fiber. One of these examples was completed according to market specs in the United States.
Powering this Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita is an all-aluminum 4.8L V8 engine with twin superchargers and double overhead cams, while featuring dry-sump lubrication, flex-fuel capability as well as Inconel exhaust. Weighing just 435 pounds – along with exhaust and superchargers – this V8 engine is tuned to provide up to 1,018 hp of whooping output at 7,000 rpm, as well as 797 lb.-ft. of peak torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a specially developed Xtrac Super Synchro paddle-shift 6-speed transverse transmission with a torque-sensitive limited-slip differential.
Interestingly, this Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita has only been driven for around 1,947 miles (3,133 kilometers), which means that it practically new even though it is already seven years old.
