Earlier this month, a driver went all “GTA” down on the streets of Los Angeles (LA), California with a blue Ford Mustang Convertible running at top speed. Needless to say, it resulted into a coveted police car chase that was plastered all over our TV screens for our enjoyment.

But what made it such an interesting car chase? First of all, it was bizarre. And secondly, a Ford Mustang convertible was used. Now let us give you some background about this first-rate car.

What Makes the Ford Mustang Convertible Better than Ever? Ford Motor Co. continues to live up to its ambitions of delivering high-performing, world-class vehicles as it introduces the all-new Ford Mustang Convertible in four continents, bringing the Mustang for the first time ever to key European and Asian cities.

Ford Group Vice President (VP) of Global Product Development Raj Nair elaborated that the Ford Mustang’s overall appearance and performance significantly cater to customer’s needs and comfort, making it the very heart of Ford.

EcoBoost Core Powering the New Mustang. The new Ford Mustang Convertible is powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine along with the updated V6 and V8 versions to choose from. Ford Mustang Chief Engineer Dave Pericak explained that this core allows the new Ford offering to deliver a broad, flat torque curve even when driving on difficult roads.

Using direct injection, variable cam timing, and turbocharging, the EcoBoost promises better fuel economy. The power output is expected at over 305 hp or 309 PS while the torque is seen at 300 lb.-ft. or 407 Nm. With the new engine, drivers will experience smoother shifts for the manual transmission.

Meanwhile, units coming with automatic transmission are employed with new steering wheel-mounted shift paddles for a more efficient driving experience. The 5.0-liter V8 engine version, on the other hand, is estimated to deliver over 420 hp and a torque of 390 lb.-ft.

Connectivity. Aside from an improved engine, the new Ford Mustang Convertible is also incorporated with innovative technologies that enhance the overall experience with better connectivity and control. Intelligent features include SYNC, MyKey, MyColor gauges, Shaker Pro audio, Track Apps, and Intelligent Access with push-button start.

With these smart modifications, drivers will be able to customize their experience further. Other driver-assist features include the Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control.

It also comes with the SYNC AppLink that allows drivers to connect their smartphones to the vehicle.

Key Features. The 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible has been designed and integrated with a wide variety of new and improved features.

Some of these main features include the contemporary signature shark-bite font fascia and trapezoidal grille, more steeply-sloped windshield and rear glasses, wider rear fenders, wider stance, and wider track, and three-dimensional, tri-bar trail lamps with sequential turn signals.

Moreover, drivers will definitely enjoy the new top that can be lowered twice as fast as those on the previous models. When it comes to the interior, the 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible comes with an aviation-inspired cockpit, which makes internal navigation a whole lot easier and more convenient.

For a better control system, the vehicle is built with tactile knobs and switches together with better ergonomics. The spaciousness inside the cabin is also improved with a new rear suspension. Furthermore, the revitalized trunk can also fit as many as two golf bags without compromise.

Since its introduction in 1964, the Ford Mustang continues to build its legacy as one of the most celebrated and most advanced models in the automotive industry. Pericak boasted that Ford is committed to building a better Mustang every time it decides to launch a new model.
