McLaren 570S is a total wreck after huge crash in Shanghai, China

Article by Christian A., on November 10, 2016

Had we known supercars will be treated roughly by their reckless owners, then buyers should have been thoroughly scrutinized before releasing these majestic beasts to their care. It is heartbreaking to witness a supercar wrecked into unrecognizable pieces, its glory days gone in a blink of an eye, all because of thoughtless driving. And it looks like many of these supercar crashes happen in China, the latest one involving a McLaren 570S.

The accident happened near Shanghai and is one of the first McLaren 570S crashes that has been reported. From the photos posted by GlobalCarWanted, the exotic car has been heavily damaged, the accident completely ruining the front end of what was once a regal masterpiece. Heavy dents are also found on both sides of the supercar which could be an indication that it must have spun around hitting the guardrail for quite some time before coming to a full stop.

There hasn’t been any official statement on what really happened before the crash but judging by the looks of the British supercar, it looks like high speed is a factor to be reckoned with. It is said that the supercar came on a head-on collision with a larger car. Upon closer look, images from the accident show an SUV parked on the emergency lane which some speculate might have been involved.

The airbags installed on both wing doors, on the dashboard, as well as on the steering wheel were deployed which pretty much gives us a picture of the weight of the crash. It would be a miracle if the passengers came out unscathed but we’re hoping they came out only with minor injuries.

For sure, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo which powered this McLaren 570S was battered badly. It looks like this supercar will be making a one-way trip down the local scrapyard as it looks too helpless for repair. We know, it’s such a waste to throw it all away, but the cost of fixing it may be higher compared to buying a brand-new model.

This serves as a reminder for everyone to always drive safe regardless of the kind of car that you are driving. Supercar or not, it is still heartbreaking to see a totaled car, all the more if its passengers were severely harmed. Authorities and groups that advocate for safe and defensive driving practices have not failed in constantly reminding us of the dangers that might happen if we do not abide by traffic rules. It is now our responsibility as drivers to be mindful of our surroundings especially if we have passengers with us.
