Top Gear has just released the teaser for its newest episodes featuring its new set of hosts. The minute-long trailer pumps up great excitement for fans and critics alike as it showcases a variety of vehicles – spotted were a Dodge Viper ACR with a machine gun attached to its roof and a Reliant Robin donning an American flag paint job.
Joining the newest team of automobile explorers is journalist and previous host for CNET’s Car Tech channel and Sky 1’s Gadget Geek series, Rory Reid. There’s also Joey from Friends or rather Matt LeBlanc as well as the controversial (to the UK audience), Chris Evans. Evan’s cheeky demeanor has made him an infamous character to the UK audience, which might be the reason why Top Gear producers have chosen him to add spice to the show.
Also included in the roster are two professional racing drivers – professional race car driver for German automakers BMW and Porsche and the “Queen of Nürburgring”, Sabine Schmitz, and Irish race car driver and former Formula One team owner, Eddie Jordan. Sabine has been a regular guest in Top Gear so her entry doesn’t come as a huge shock to fans. Her famous Nürburgring lap time only adds more spice to her character.
There’s also the notorious motoring journalist and host for Autocar, Jalopnik and Youtube channel Drive, Chris Harris. And last but definitely not the least, clad in an all-white racing suit, the famous Top Gear character, The Stig. These people will be all geared up and ready to entertain the audience as they venture and explore different kinds of vehicles from Reliant Robins to military vehicles and even to the most powerful supercars.
The teaser features a few stunts, some of which have already been featured in previous seasons, as well as a few lunch mishaps – a clip of Evans puking strawberries after a ride around the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with Sabine Schmitz.
Clad in a fur jacket and American flag designed helmet, LeBlanc is also seen driving a topless Reliant Robin which gets into trouble somewhere along the way. And there’s also a glimpse of Evans and Jensen Button taking a spin.
There’s so much to anticipate with this new line up of Top Gear hosts. They’re expected to bring freshness to the show but at the same time bring the essence of the old Top Gear back. The minute-long teaser is packed with plenty of sneak peeks, which even the most ardent fan could only catch by pressing the pause button.
