In 2013, Ultimate Auto (a car builder from Orlando Florida) modified a 1967 Chevy Camaro and had it showcased at the SEMA Show. Dubbed as the “Ultimate Sixty-Seven”, the high performance Camaro is now on eBay for the price of 299,000 USD. But before you start raising your eyebrows, let’s find out the story behind its current value.
To begin with, we think the asking price is fairly reasonable considering if the cost for customization was originally at 420,000 USD. Well, that’s what it said on eBay when the owner had the old Chevy commissioned years ago. Now if you add the “Goodguys Builder’s Choice” Award it won in 2015, no doubt, this Chev could be considered among the Florida-based auto tuner’s “ultimate” creations.
At first, the 1967 Chevy Camaro features Baer four-wheel disk brakes, Borla custom side exhaust and a 1969 Camaro inverted tail lights. To complete the striking exterior package, the builder has equipped this Chevy with bespoke hood, custom trunk lid, Vellano VKS wheels, a handmade carbon fiber roof and the special BASF Carizzma Ruthless red body paint.
By using the 5th generation Camaro’s cabin design, Ultimate Auto builders has brought the past into the future. For one, the interior cabin certainly looks new as if this Chevy didn’t come from the 60s. That’s because it’s built with 2013 Camaro’s front seats, dashboard, center console, steering wheel among other things. But more than anything else, the Orlando builders also came up with custom pillar covers, carbon fiber trims, custom buckets for the rear including the F5 buckets for the interiors.
Furthermore, the “Ultimate 67” features a JL audio system, subwoofers, a custom band pass enclosure with Plexiglas and aluminum trims, a custom gauge panel, a Pioneer touch screen, air conditioning as well as the custom leather and suede for the upholsteries.
When it comes to power, the ultimate Chevy is packed with a 6.2 liter Chevrolet Performance LS9 V8 engine with up to 638 horsepower and 604 pound feet of torque. To back up its ultimate performance, this Chevy’s powerful engine is paired with Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission together with Detroit Speed and Engineering Quadralink suspensions. For better grip on the road, the Vellano VKs wheels are wrapped with Pirelli’s P-Zero ultra-high performance tires in 265/30-20 (for the front) and 355/25-21 (for the rear).
All things considered, this one-of-a-kind “Restomod” has combined the 21st century Italian street car’s spirit along with the classic American muscle car’s sex appeal. For us, this makes the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro an ultimate choice for those who want a show stopping performer.
