Nissan is offering a preview of the 2014 370Z NISMO at the Chicago Auto Show at the same time as the debut in the U.S. of the new 2013 Nissan JUKE NISMO. The automaker is also in the process of expanding the NISMO brand worldwide. The 370Z NISMO is expected to start selling at Nissan dealerships throughout the country this summer.
It uses the new NISMO design theme with unique accents to its exterior and interior. The existing 370Z NISMO straight from the factory is a tuner’s dream. It delivers a 350hp output and features racing-inspired exterior and interior styling, a specially tuned suspension and unique super-lightweight forged alloy wheels.
However, the 2014 improvements are meant to raise the car’s visual impact even further. The exterior has new dark gray coloring added to the front and rear fascias, lower side sills, side mirrors and NISMO rear spoiler, with every element (except for the side sills) featuring NISMO-style red pinstripe accents.
Furthermore, Solid Red replaces the previous Magma Red as one of four 370Z NISMO exterior color options. The interior improvements include the addition of a new steering wheel with Alcantara appointments and red accents, and a red NISMO tachometer.
370Z NISMO offers an exceptional performance due to an advanced Nissan FM (Front Midship) platform, refined 4-wheel independent suspension and 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL) that produces 350 hp at 7,400 rpm and 276 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm.
The VVEL system helps to maximize the intake valve open/close movements, permitting the required air to be quickly sent to the combustion chamber at the precisely optimized time.
370Z NISMO's improved engine power and acceleration (compared to non-NISMO 370Zs) is offered through the use of an exclusive H-configured exhaust system design and muffler tuning, together with optimized ECM (Engine Control Module) calibration.
The interior of the new Nissan 370Z Nismo has been made driver-centric and its features include the seats having black and red fabric along with red stitching with the Nismo logo on them. There is also the Nismo tachometer, pedals trimmed in aluminum, shift knob wrapped in smooth leather, and steering wheel having the Alcantara wrap with the red parallel stitching.
On the vertical panel that is just on top of the floor-mounted console, Nissan has placed a serialized plaque of authenticity. This is matched to each 370Z Nismo which is identified by its very own serial and model year designation. The sports seats have cloth woven to them and come with the 4-way passenger/ 8-way driver’s manual adjustments. Its front seat meanwhile can be adjusted and come with Active Head Restraints.
Standard features aimed at convenience and comfort include the automatic climate control, power door locks having auto-lock feature, and the power windows with that one-touch auto up/down feature. There is also the Nissan Intelligent Key with the Push Button Start. Another standard equipment is the four-speaker AM/FM/CD/AUX audio system. Offered as well is the Bose Package which brings in a pair of extra speakers resulting in a total of six speakers.
The package also makes available two sub-woofers, an in-dash 6-CD changer, HomeLink Universal Transceiver, auto-dimming inside mirror, and the Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System, auto-dimming inside mirror and HomeLink Universal Transceiver. Note that no additional options will be offered. The exterior of the 2014 Nissan 370Z Nismo offers new color treatments.
There is now a total of four colors which are Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black, Pearl White, and finally Solid Red. In addition, the design of the front nose has clearly been extended with a chin spoiler fully integrated. This allows the new model to have a more dynamic feel when it comes to movement. The combination also results in improving both the downforce and the airflow and thereby enhance the vehicle’s aerodynamic performance.
Air that flows under the 370Z Nismo is controlled by the combination of a unique bumper in the rear and the use of special side sills. One the rear section, a functional spoiler ensures that downforce is increased. When it comes to dimensions, the new 370Z Nismo is longer compared to the 370Z Coupe by 6.2 inches.
