Chrysler has released a teaser of yet another special-edition from Mopar, Chrysler’s service parts and performance accessories division. This tuned 2013 Dodge Dart is set to make its official debut at the Chicago Auto Show but Chrysler was only so generous as to tease the customized compact car before then.
From this single teaser image, we get a glimpse of its interior. We see that the two front buckets are leather trimmed and feature Mopar emblems embroidered into the seat backs. The driver’s seat uses bright blue leather while other seats have black leather trimming and are accented with blue stitching and inserts.
We don’t yet get to see what its exterior looks like but it’s believed that this special edition model will have black exterior paint and an offset blue stripe that runs along the length of the car just like the other Mopar special edition models (the Mopar ‘10 Challenger, the Mopar ‘11 Charger, and the Mopar ’12 Chrysler 300). The new Dart is expected to also have dark painted/tinted aluminum wheels, blacked-out trim accents, and unique badging.
Information about the powertrain hasn’t been divulged yet but it’s likely that this Mopar ’13 Dart will use either the turbocharged 1.4-liter Multiair I-4 or the Dart GT’s bigger Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder. What we shouldn’t expect is that this Mopar model will have a much higher power output than the “stock” Dart variants.
The 2013 iteration of Dodge Dart offers a great combination of Alfa Romeo design genes, Dodge's performance mantra and powerful yet efficient engines. As a result, the Dodge Dart has become a modern car that is not only elegant and well-crafted, but is also enjoyable to drive, agile and fuel-efficient.
Already laden with clever functionality, top-of-the-class safety elements and groundbreaking technologies, the latest iteration Dodge Dart is setting a new standard among its peers in the compact car segment. This is because the new Dodge Dart is a car that fuses spaciousness, functionality and styling while offering unparalleled levels of personalization.
Reid Bigland, president and chief executive of the Dodge Brand at Chrysler Group LLC, called the new Dodge Dart as a groundbreaking car that will both surprise and delight customers seeking a car that isn’t only fun to drive but also offers great value. He noted that the new Dart is available in 12 exterior colors, 14 interior color and trim options as well as with three engines and three transmissions. Bigland added that the new Dart also offers unmatched safety features as well as world-class aerodynamics.
Dodge will commence production of the new Dart in the second quarter of 2012 at Chrysler Group's Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Ill. At launch, the new Dart will be available in five trim levels: SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited and R/T.
The exterior of the new 2013 Dodge Dart features a characteristic yet stylish design. At first look, the new Dart features an appearance that isn’t only fluid and agile, but is also sporty. Overall, the new Dodge Dart features a dramatic exterior that is unusual in the compact sedan segment in the United States.
