2015 Chicago Auto Show: Nissan 370 NISMO Roadster Concept previews an open-air dream

Article by Christian A., on February 13, 2015

Nissan’s big surprise for the 2015 Chicago Auto Show was the 370 NISMO Roadster Concept, a vehicle that previews an open-top version of the 370 NISMO Coupe. Compared to the coupe, the 370 Nismo Roadster Concept shows the same design with a deep front fascia which includes Hyper LED Daytime Running Lights, Black headlight bezels, a NISMO emblem as well as the NISMO red stripe accents.

From the side, we can see the NISMO red accents, the red sideview mirror covers and the top-down profile. The fixed headrest bars are located in the middle of the vehicle and are wrapped in leather with red accents.

The rear end features a custom carbon-fiber rear spoiler, while the power-folding roof with fabric inner liner design completed the design. Moreover, the concept uses 19-inch NISMO forged aluminum-alloy wheels by RAYS, wrapped in Y-rated Bridgeston Potenza S001.

The interior feature black Recaro seats wrapped in leather, with leather stitching and stain-repellent, a 3-spoke steeting wheel wrapped in Alcantara and aluminum pedals. Under the hood, there is a 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine producing 350 hp and 276 lb-ft of torque.

Nissan 370Z Nismo Coupe

The new 2015 Nissan 370Z Nismo is provided with a thoroughly revised exterior design. The redesign – entailing a number of functional and integrated aerodynamic body pieces – gave the Nissan 370Z Nismo a more aggressive and more aerodynamic look while optimizing downforce on the front and rear sections.

It now features a deeper front end marked by LED Hyper Daytime Running Lights and black headlight bezels, as well as the signature Nismo red stripe accent on the integrated front chin spoiler and the Nismo emblem. This red accent flows through the redesigned side sills, the black sideview mirrors and to the lower section of the rear end. In addition, the car’s Nismo rear spoiler is now smaller and has a new shape. As standard, the 2015 Nissan 370Z Nismo rides on restyled Nismo super-lightweight forged aluminum-alloy wheels (by Rays), which now feature a twin-five spoke design and a charcoal gray machine-finish.

Meanwhile, the interior of the new 370Z Nismo features redesigned black-and-red Recaro leather-appointed seats with Alcantara accents. Co-developed with Recaro, these new seats deliver more uniform body pressure as well as improved levels of all-direction holding during enthusiastic acceleration, braking and cornering. These seats also help maximize the harmony between driver and machine, thereby making driving more exciting. In addition, the interior comes with red seat trim and stitching with Nismo logo as well as Alcantara-appointed leather-wrapped steering wheel. A Nismo red tachometer is also provided.

Customers may also opt for the 370Z Nismo Tech, a version that adds a number of features like hard drive-based Nissan Navigation System with 7.0-inch VGA touch-sensitive display, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (SiriusXM subscription required), Bose Audio System and RearView Monitor. Also included are Streaming Audio via Bluetooth, HomeLink Universal Transceiver and auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Nissan 370 NISMO Roadster Concept

The Nissan 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept is designed to provide the best of two worlds - the open-air driving exhilaration of a standard 370Z Roadster and the racing-inspired style and performance of a 370Z NISMO Coupe. It offers unique engine, suspension, exterior and interior features versus standard Nissan 370Z Roadster models - including a 350-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 and NISMO-tuned suspension.

"While the 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept is just a performance study at this point, you can see its potential as a production model," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations U.S., Nissan North America. "First, we've injected all the performance equipment from a 370Z NISMO Coupe. Inside, since the interior is on display whenever the top is down, it features the full NISMO treatment, as well as a few special custom touches. The Nissan 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept's striking visual presence starts with the addition of GT-R-inspired functional and fully integrated aerodynamic body pieces, including a custom carbon-fiber rear spoiler created exclusively for use on the 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept. Inside, the NISMO-styled interior is just as stunning, anchored by black Recaro® seats with custom off-white Ultrasuede® inserts."
