Nissan Motorsports creates extreme Titan XD Pro-4X pickup truck

Article by Christian A., on February 10, 2017

As it is, the new Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X pickup truck is already a mean machine ready to take on anything on the road or even off it. But of course, a customer could always make the Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X pickup truck much meaner and more full of character – by availing of Nissan Genuine Parts and Accessories as well as aftermarket components.

To show how customers could spice up the meaningful character of the Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X, the Japanese carmaker – through its Nissan Motorsports division -- is bringing the pickup truck to the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. However, this pickup truck – a 2017 Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X Crew Cab in Super Black finish -- has been configured and modified with Nissan Genuine Parts and Accessories and available aftermarket parts. Dubbed as the new Motorsports Titan XD, this modified Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X is also outfitted with a prototype suspension kit and exhaust system.

Dubbed as the new Motorsports Titan XD, this tweaked pickup truck will be fully shown to the public at Chicago's McCormick Place from February 11 to 20, 2017.

Nissan Genuine Parts and Accessories used on the new Motorsports Titan XD include Genuine Nissan Polished Exhaust Tip from Platinum Edition; Genuine Nissan TITAN Accessory Tailgate Guard; and Genuine Nissan TITAN Accessory Rear Bumper Step. Also featured on the Motorsports Titan XD are Genuine Nissan TITAN Sliding Bed Extender and Genuine Nissan TITAN Sliding Bed Divider. The Motorsports Titan XD rides on wheels from Method as wrapped in tires provided by Hankook.

The new Motorsports Titan XD also features off-the-shelf and prototype parts like a suspension system from ICON Vehicle Dynamics; front grille with camera mount and light bars from Rigid Industries; front bumper and rock rails from N-Fab; and fender flares and sport bar from EGR.

There were no modifications made to the pickup truck’s 5.0-liter Cummins V8 engine, which means it still delivers 310 hp of output and 555 lb-ft of torque. This 5.0-liter Cummins V8 engine is designed exclusively just for the Titan XD, and is boosted by a two-stage turbo for continuous power, ceramic glow plugs, and a lightweight compacted graphite iron (CGI) block. This V8 engine sends power to all four wheels through a heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission from Aisin, allowing the new Motorsports Titan XD to offer up to 12,310 lbs. of towing capacity. This Aisin gearbox comes with a Tow/Haul mode. Thanks to a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system, a driver could shift between 2WD and 4WD instantaneously while moving at speeds of up to 60 mph.

Nissan Motorsports takes 2017 TITAN XD PRO-4X to the extreme

Just as the powerful all-new Nissan 2016 TITAN XD was about to go on sale in late 2015, a highly modified version made its debut at the SEMA show, the epicenter for automotive parts and accessories. Now, Nissan Motorsports is back at the parts and accessories bins again, creating another show worthy modified TITAN XD project in time for the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. The new Motorsports TITAN XD1 will be on display at the auto show, February 11th – 20th, 2017 at Chicago's McCormick Place.

The new TITAN XD display vehicle utilizes an array Nissan Genuine Parts and Accessories, current aftermarket accessories and a series of prototype components.

"The TITAN XD, with its available Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine, is a powerful platform that calls out for customization," said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. "We're pleased to offer TITAN XD owners so many ways to personalize their vehicles and also excited more and more companies are supporting TITAN with aftermarket parts and accessories."

Besides a full array of Nissan Genuine components, companies that provided Nissan Motorsports with off-the-shelf and prototype parts includes ICON Vehicle Dynamics (suspension system), Rigid Industries (front grille with camera mount and light bars), as well as N-Fab (front bumper and rock rails), EGR (fender flares and sport bar), Method (wheels) and Hankook (tires).
