Both the Toyota Sequoia and the Toyota Tundra may be tough vehicles but they don’t lack style. But how could we make these two vehicles – some of the largest in Toyota’s lineup – become tougher yet more stylish? Let’s ask the guys at Toyota’s in-house tuning shop, Toyota Racing Development or TRD.
However, before we know it, TRD has already developed a new grade for the 2018 models of both Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck and the Sequoia large SUV. This grade – called as TRD Sport – makes sure that performance and style go hand-in-hand wherever the Tundra and the Sequoia are driven.
Let’s start off with the Tundra TRD Sport. This grade is available in 4x4 and 4x2 models in CrewMax and Double Cab body variants of the Tundra pickup as powered by a 381-hp 5.7-liter i-Force V8 engine. Expect better road performance for this version of the Tundra thanks TRD Sport Tuned Bilstein Shocks as well as TRD front and rear anti-sway bars.
Available in several exterior finishes (Barcelona Red Metallic, Blazing Blue Pearl, Magnetic Gray, Midnight Black, Pearl and Super White), the Tundra TRD Sport features a mesh grille with body color surround as flanked by LED headlights (with black bezel) and Daytime Running Lights. The Tundra TRD Sport also features color-keyed mirrors, front and rear bumpers as well as color-keyed hood scoop. In addition, this grade comes with TRD Sport bedside graphic and 20-inch silver alloy wheels with black accents. Inside, the Tundra TRD Sport is available with a TRD shift knob and TRD Sport floor mats.
All 2018 Toyota Tundra models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS-P).
On the other hand, the 2018 Sequoia TRD Sport will be available in 4x4 and 4x2 versions of the large SUV as powered by the 5.7-liter i-Force V8 engine. Better road performance is brought by the addition of TRD Sport Tuned Bilstein Shocks as well as TRD front and rear anti-sway bars.
Available in a number of exterior colors (Magnetic Gray, Midnight Black Metallic and Super White), the Sequoia TRD Sport comes with a new front grille and bumper as well as gloss black mirror caps. It also features smoked rear tail light lens as well as black satin finish TRD Sport badging on the front doors and a new Sequoia badge on the liftgate.
Riding on 20-inch alloy black sport wheels, the Sequoia TRD Sport comes with standard black fabric seven-passenger seating, although optional Black leather captain chair seats could be availed as part of the optional Premium Package. The cabin of the 2018 Sequoia TRD Sport also features TRD Sport floor mats, TRD shift knob and TRD sill protectors.
All Sequoia models will be provided – as standard -- with new LED headlights, DRL, and fog lamps. Also provided as standard is a new instrumentation panel gauge cluster and Multi-information Display (MID).
