Ram Trucks dropped quite a bomb at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show when it unveiled the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, representing the fifth generation of the light duty pickup truck. Now, the Ram 1500 is making an appearance at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, and this time, the light duty pickup truck is wrapped in Mopar parts and accessories.
A result of a partnership between the Ram Trucks and Mopar brands, a 2019 Ram 1500 modified for outdoor sports is making an appearance in Chicago. It is essentially the Big Horn Sport 4x4 version of the newly unveiled fifth-generation Ram 1500 as wrapped in Flame Red finish and dressed up in a wide array of Mopar products designed especially for this light duty pickup truck. According to Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service at Mopar, the customized truck at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show demonstrates what is possible when accessorizing the all-new Ram 1500.
These Mopar products include certain parts that enhance the truck’s off-rood capability as well as numerous storage systems, parts and accessories. While the customized 2019 Ram 1500 is already clothed with several Mopar parts and accessories, the menu for the all-new light duty pickup truck actually listed more than 200 available products. That’s pretty extensive.
To ensure that all Mopar parts and accessories are harmonized with the all-new Ram 1500 in terms of fit, finish and function, they were all developed in close collaboration with Ram Truck engineers and designers. According to Ram, all of these Mopar products were a result of thousands of hours of testing and validation.
In particular, the Ram 1500 Big Horn Sport 4x4 show truck features two-inch Mopar lift kit, Mopar 18-inch six-lug off-road beadlock-capable wheels and large tread 35-inch tires. These parts are complemented by black Mopar off-road wheel flares as well as by body-length Mopar off-road cast aluminum running boards with a skid-resistant stepping surface.
On the bed of the Ram 1500 show truck is the lifestyle Ram Rack – a new Mopar part that will be offered in the near future – that allows customers to secure large gear. The rear Ram Rack is adjustable, allowing it to be slid to the front Ram Rack.
The Ram 1500 Big Horn Sport 4x4 show truck also features the new Mopar “Ram Airflow” cold-air intake system that channels air to the powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine. Ram Airflow is compatible with all hood applications for the all-new Ram. Further Mopar parts and accessories fitted on the show truck includes Mopar five-inch dual exhaust tips, front tow hooks and a Mopar logo hitch plug, as well as black Mopar hood graphic stripes, blacked-out Ram emblems and badging.
Meanwhile, the interior of the 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn Sport 4x4 show truck is provided with premium black Katzkin leather seats, which have seatbacks that are embroidered with Rebel red Ram’s head logos. The same Rebel red stitching is found on the seats, center console and door trim. The Ram’s head logo is also found on the Mopar all-weather floor mats. The R-A-M logo is likewise found on the Mopar brushed aluminum door sill guards.
