Article by Christian A., on January 17, 2016

BMW M GmbH brought two new offerings to the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit: the BMW M2 and the BMW X4 M40i. Awaited by many fans, the BMW M2 has a smooth design on both the exterior and interior which compliments well with the performance of the BMW M.

This latest offering of BMW M GmbH symbolizes the M model’s DNA as it continues the M tradition of a vehicle having unequaled driving dynamics both on the racing circuit or the highway.

Powering the M2 is the new Turbo M TwinPower 3-liter 6-cylinder engine which can deliver 365 bhp. Torque has been measured to be 343 lb.-ft. between 1,400 rpm and 5,560 rpm, although the M2 has an overboost capability that can increase this amount to 369 lb.-ft. between revolutions per minute of 1,450 and 4,750. This results in an acceleration figure of 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds with a maximum speed at 155 mph.

As it has its roots in motorsports, the M2 sets the standard for its class as it relates to the steering precision, stability, better control, agility, and even driving feel, all without the need to compromise even if the M2 is used daily. The M2 will be released in April 2016 and can be availed at accredited BMW centers at a price of $51,700 plus Destination and Handling.

The X4 M40i meanwhile offers the thrill that has been expected of any M motor as well as the amount of power delivered. Also debuting along with the X4 M40i is its TwinPower Turbo M Performance 6-cylinder inline engine. It gives the X4 M40i a maximum speed of150 mph with the best acceleration for its segment of 0 to 60 mph in merely 4.7 seconds.

Both the technology used and the design implemented are seen as the best with the exterior chassis made not just more powerful and efficient but it has also been modified to meet the specifications of the M Performance. It also comes equipped with different technologies like the TwinScroll turbo technology, BMW ConnectedDrive, and the intelligent xDrive.

Compared to the M2, the X4 M40i will be released earlier at February 2016. It has a starting price of $57,800 plus Destination and Handling and can be obtained from your nearest approved BMW dealers.
