This year, Mercedes-Benz will be celebrating its 130th anniversary by launching the exclusive Mercedes-AMG S 63 4MATIC Cabriolet "Edition 130". This special edition, which boasts of exquisite appointments, recently had its world premiere at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

To give you a brief history of the brand, it was in 1886 that Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler invented the automobile. That was only the beginning as they’ve started a tradition of ground-breaking creations and continuous development that is practiced even today.

Presented as the exclusive version of the company’s open-top four seater, the S 63 Cabriolet "Edition 130" has its fabric top in Bordeaux red, the body painted in an "alubeam silver" finish, and the 10-spoke 20-inch wheels in matt black, with rim flanges having a high-sheen.

Mercedes-AMG GmbH Chairman of the Board Tobias Moers shares that the first automobiles that Benz and Daimler created were open type vehicles. This limited edition cabriolet, he added, hopes to honor the success experienced by its founding fathers.

According to Moers, this also shows the advances experienced by automobiles over the past 130 years, changes that would not have been possible during that period.

Mercedes-Benz says that only 130 units of the S 63 Cabriolet "Edition 130" will be released. Highlighting the fact that this is a limited edition is the designo nappa leather that comes in either Bengal red or Bengal black.

The company also offers as an option the crystal grey or black with the AMG carbon or piano lacquer black for the trim elements. There is also a badge in its middle console and its steering wheel bezel has an engraving, which adds to its exclusivity. Completing the visual look are the floor mats in either Bengal red or crystal grey and the brake calipers in red.

This limited edition offering will come with a customized Indoor Car Cover from AMG that has the words "Edition 130 – 1 of 130" embroidered to it. Aside from showing off the exclusivity of the car, it also protects it from dust while inside the garage.

Once the keys are handed over, the customer will also get a Welcome Package that includes the key ring with the Edition 130 badge inside an aluminium box.

The launch of the "Edition 130" at the Auto Show in Detroit also marks the start of sales. In Germany, its non-binding list price is at 226,457 Euros, which already includes the 19% VAT.

The official market launch is expected to start by April 2016. In addition to the amazing design of the interior and exterior, this four-seater also has the trademark Driving Performance Mercedes-Benz is known for.

Powering the "Edition 130" is the V8-biturbo 5.5-liter engine that can deliver maximum power of 430 kW, or about 585 HP, and top torque at 900 Nm. Meanwhile, 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is achieved in only 3.9 seconds. It also comes with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the composite brake system.

The exclusive designo nappa leather upholstery in Bengal red/black or optionally crystal grey/black as well as the trim elements in AMG carbon/piano lacquer black also underscore the special position of this limited edition, of which there are only 130 available. A badge in the middle console and an engraving on the steering wheel bezel also highlight this fact. Brake calipers painted red and floor mats with Bengal red or crystal grey edging round off the visual impression.

Every customer receives a tailor-made AMG Indoor Car Cover with the embroidered lettering "Edition 130 – 1 of 130" to protect this valuable vehicle from dust in the garage.
