Currently, the S-Class Coupe is on a level all on its own given the refined athleticism, the stylish design, and the various exclusive equipment inside. This allows the S-Class Coupe to have the proportions similar to the Gran Turismo but with advanced technology and contemporary luxury.
For the Night Edition, one exclusive feature can be seen on the interior, particularly the AMG sports steering wheel. In addition to being wrapped in nappa leather, the steering wheel is where the Night Edition badge has been engraved. In order to make this new feature fit, the upholstery is available in nappa leather, leather, or even AMG nappa leather, in a black/black combination. Other combinations are also available like the Bengal red/black, saddle brown/black, or the crystal grey/black. There will also be the option to have the high-gloss poplar wood trim in black. The goal of all of these is to highlight the unique personality of the vehicle.
On the outside, there are a number of details as well that make this Night Edition distinct. A good example is how unique the radiator grille is given that it has a high-gloss single louvre in black. Then there are the AMG light-alloy multi-spoke 20-inch wheels which are not only in black but come with a high-sheen rim flange. Painted in high gloss black as well are the inserts that are in the side sill panels and the exterior mirror housings.
While the AMG bodystyling for both the front apron and the rear apron is standard, the front wings will have the Night Edition badge on it. Standard as well is the illuminated door sills that will have the brand’s lettering. Mercedes-Benz is giving customers the choice to have the paintwork come in selenite grey mango. Made available as well is the matt paint finish, coming out of the designo manufaktur lineup, and has that special-effect high-quality pigments.
Under the Night Edition, the brand will be offering three choices for the engine. The first is the S 400 4MATIC Coupé (3.0-liter V6) with output of 270 kW and peak torque of 500 Nm. This allows for acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds with maximum speed of 250 km/h. For both the S 500 Coupé (4.6-liter V8) and the S 500 4MATIC Coupé, output is at 335 kW with top torque at 700 Nm. While the two has the same maximum speed as the first engine, acceleration is better with 0 to 100 km/h possible in 4.6 seconds.
Orders for the two-door Night Edition will be accepted starting January 9, 2017. This version is expected to be part of the European market by April 2017 with the U.S. market to follow by August 2017.
