2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition unveiled

Article by Christian A., on January 24, 2017

As you probably have noticed, the Ram 1500 Rebel is the meaner and more aggressive version of the Ram 1500. But there is a version of the Ram 1500 Rebel that could make the standard Ram 1500 look angelic – the Black Edition. Of course, the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition isn’t available yet at your nearest dealership as it is was just unveiled formally at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (also known to many as Detroit Auto Show).

Basically, the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition is a more intense version of the mean-looking Ram 1500. There are no improvements or enhancements made on the power levels of this badass pickup truck. It is just that its looks more aggressive both on the exterior and the interior. Just like any Ram 1500 Rebel, the Black Edition comes with a new front grille design – distinctly differently from a typical Ram 1500 – with a prominent billet silver “RAM” letter badge.

Its rear end comes with the “RAM” stamped tailgate, a rear bumper with flared cutouts around the dual chrome-tipped tailpipes, and taillights with black bezels. The off-road capability of the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition is highlighted by its 33-inch all-terrain tires, factory lift, skid plates, tow hooks and Bilstein shocks. It also features an exclusive air suspension that allows it to boast of a higher ride.

While this edition of the Ram 1500 Rebel has “Black” in its name, it doesn’t mean that customers will get a black exterior. The “black” in the name doesn’t refer to the color of the body but to that of some exterior elements like the darkened wheels and the black brush guard. Of course, customers may still choose from any of the color choices available for the Ram 1500 Rebel like Black (Clear Coat), Bright White, Red Flame, Granite Crystal (Metallic) and Bright Silver (Metallic).

More importantly, the “black” signifies the theme of the interior. Once the driver or the passengers enter the cabin, they would be delighted to experience a completely black-out interior with black anodized bezels on the doors and center console as well as on the gauge cluster trim rings and instrument panel. This fierce pickup truck is provided with black heated seats with black “Rebel” embroidery. Light Slate Gray accent stitching can be found on the seats, instrument panel, center console lid and doors. Deep rubber floor mats are also provided. Customers may further increase the luxury levels of their Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition by availing of optional Black leather Katskin seats.

Offered only in crew cab configuration, customers may choose from two available engines mated to a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission. One of these is the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers 305 hp of output and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. A more powerful engine is the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine that generates 395 hp of output and 410 lb.-ft. of torque.

Sales of the Ram 1500 Rebel Black edition will commence in March 2017 at a starting MSRP of $45,590 plus $1,320 destination.
