Toyota has officially unveiled its newest offering, the 2018 Camry. Long considered as the best-selling car in the U.S. for 15 years now, this eighth-generation version of the Camry was shown to the public during this year’s 2017 North American International Auto Show held in Detroit, Michigan.
Camry has been a safe and dependable model and the latest iteration continues to have those same qualities but due to the new style and more athletic performance, it is able to offer a more emotional feel.
A highlight of the new Camry is that it makes use of the Toyota New Global Architecture, or TNGA. This is a new strategy being implemented by the brand in terms of how it designs, engineers, and finally packages their products. The core principle under the TNGA is that the vehicle should continue to have the safety and quality Toyota is known for and add in a fun-to-drive experience. In the 2018 Camry, this is best exemplified with the new engine and transmission and the GA-K platform.
According to Camry Chief Engineer Masato Katsumata, since the brand wanted to rouse the spirit of the customers, the new sedan is one that provides both excitement and fun. Since they were able to start from scratch, he added, this allowed them to make the new Camry truly a driver’s car.
Meanwhile, Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations at Toyota, Bob Carter, shared that the 2018 Camry is by far the most attractive mid-sized sedan the brand has made. It is able to deliver what customers have long expected from the brand, he continued. He added that it also has an excellent design with more innovative technology fitted inside, including high-tech safety systems. The performance it is able to offer brings excitement to new heights.
