Infiniti Q60 Concept shows its face ahead of 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Just ahead of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Infiniti unveiled its latest Q60 Concept, a vehicle that previews an upcoming premium sports coupe. Clearly inspired by the Q80 Inspiration Concept that was unveiled back in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, the new Q60 Concept features a low roofline, while the aerodynamic gills located behind the front wheel arches are inspired by the Q50 Eau Rouge Concept.

In addition, there are new 21-inch wheels inspired by jet turbines blades, with black spokes in a combination of mattes and chromes which stretch to the edge.

Inside, the Q60 Concept arrives with a variety of leathers that provide the perfect balance of comfort and support, but also with plenty of legroom for the rear passengers as it is a genuine “2+2” coupe. The quilted leather seats are also inspired by the Q80 Inspiration Concept.

“The Q80 Inspiration was an indication of Infiniti’s future design language,” said Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti Executive Design Director. “The Q60 Concept is the next step in the journey.”

“The sweeping lines of the Q80 Inspiration gave the Q60 Concept its coupe silhouette and looks while the Formula One-inspired touches from the Q50 Eau Rouge endowed the coupe with its sports personality.”

The new Infiniti Q60 Concept is part of the quest of the carmaker’s designers to create a sports car that delivers top-notch performance as well as a dynamic presence on the road. This is why the new Q60 Concept is given a dominating stance, as made possible by its sharp edges, precise lines, striking dips on the sides.

Featuring coupe-style exterior lines expressing aspiration and desire, the Q60 Concept has dimensions that measure 4,690 mm (184.6 inches) in length, 1,865 mm (73.4 inches) in width and 1,370 mm (53.9 inches) in height.

Its assertive appearance is accentuated by character lines flowing from the double arch grille to the aerodynamic rear spoiler. The shoulder of the new concept deeply dips to augment the visual excitement of the passenger compartment. In addition, the 21-inch wheels of the new Q60 Concept are further emphasized by making them fill up the wheel arches. These wheels feature stunning spokes in matte blacks and high-gloss black chromes.

This level of refinement exhibited on the exterior of the Q60 Concept is mirrored in the cabin, delivering a premium atmosphere defined by painstaking craftsmanship and three-dimensional textures. Further finesse is exhibited by steering wheel, instrument panel and door inserts, all of which are wrapped in leather. The carbon fiber door accents exude the high-performance nature of the car while high-quality driver-focused controls help boost driver confidence.
