Peugeot will be launching the "Zero Emissions" iOn at the Frankfurt Motor Show towards the later part of 2010. The Lion Brand has a strong history when it comes to electric cars as it is a pioneer in this field and is expected to continue being a major force in the market for electric vehicles.
From 1995 to 2003, the brand has sold 106 units and remains to be the only one to have sold the most number of "zero-emissions" cars worldwide. iOn utilizes lithium-ion batteries giving it an operating range of 130 km while ensuring a good response when it comes to mobility in urban settings and maintaining a good respect for its surroundings and the environment.
The launch will be the first time the iOn will be shown to the public. By the time it is launched, the iOn will be one of the first electric vehicles to do so in Europe. After its launch, Peugeot will be developing this model in partnership with the Mitsubishi Motor Company.
The main goal is to target retail like individuals, and fleet customers which can include large companies, authorities, and local organizations, among others. The reason why it is effective for this target market is because it is fit for use in any kind of urban environment. Its lithium-ion batteries can be fully charged in merely six hours though an 80% recharge is possible in just thirty minutes. As such, it makes the town become one’s favorite playground.
With its four seats and four doors, the iOn’s length measures 3.48 meters while the turning circle stands at 4.50 meters. Maximum power is at 47 kW, or about 64 bph, with maximum torque at 180 Nm. Performance remains consistent with 130 km/h of maximum speed and the standard European cycle of 130 km.
All that’s needed to fully recharge its lithium-ion car batteries is a standard 220-volt socket and six hours. However since it uses the fast charging system, it is possible to recharge 80% of the battery’s capacity in half-an-hour. The impressive level of versatility in this environment-friendly city car is owing to its specifications. It’s also why its level of comfort and performance is similar to those of small vehicles with the usual combustion engine.
However, the compact size, respect of the environment, ease of operation, and safety are not the only features that make it the best. The interior has state-of-the-art services like the "localised communication unit." What it does is it activates the emergency call system which gives the location of the vehicle in the event of an accident and informs the appropriate emergency services. Peugeot has long been known to run the emergency call system given that it has a number deployed all across Europe.
The second reason why the "localised communication unit" is an amazing service is because it allows data transfer like the current status of the battery, the distance covered by the car, and the distance travelled prior to maintenance, among many others.
Because of this, it makes it easy to manage even fleet vehicles. The iOn offers a number of solutions to meet the needs when it comes to urban mobility. This is a clear sign of Peugeot's environmental strategy while strengthening the brand’s guarantee to incorporate this new automotive edition.

While the iOn will be offered starting at the end of 2010, the 3008 HYbrid4 meanwhile will arrive by the spring of 2011. The 3008 HYbrid4 comes equipped with a wide range of technologies. It has a 4-wheel drive, an engine that delivers 147 kW (200 bhp) of power, with CO2 emissions lowered to 99 g/km.
Once these products are released, it will be able to round out the series of combustion engines that includes engines that offer even higher performance. It will come with the diesel HDi FAP variant and the petrol variant, both with the VTi and the THP technology. The engines have been placed well for their segment with emissions of 106 g/km for the 107, 99 g/km for the 207, 120 g/km for the 308, 130 g/km for the 3008, and 129 g/km for the 407.
