Peugeot has unveiled a super-performance version of its popular Sports Coupé -- the RCZ R - at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The RCZ R is a merger of performance and efficiency thanks to its new 1.6-liter THP engine that provides 270bhp while emitting just 145 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.

To further bring out the power of the RCZ R, it is fitted with a Torsen differential that allows high level grip efficiency and dynamic sensations. Bruno Famin, Peugeot Sport Director, remarked that the “strength of style” of the RCZ is further enhanced by its dynamic performance and the 270bhp of the R version.

He said that the RCZ R is the carmaker’s answer to the passion aroused by the sporting success of the RCZ Peugeot Sport.

Xavier Nicolas, Product Manager of RCZ, quipped that they had an ambitious brief, which is to develop a top-specification, high-performance version of the RCZ that does not only retains the qualities of comfort and convenience for everyday use but also consumes lesser fuel emits lesser carbon dioxide at just 145kg/km.

The 270bhp (199kW) coming from the RCZ R’s engine propels the car from zero to 62mph in less than six seconds. Higher power and lower emissions were achieved by utilizing the downsizing capacity of the THP engine, thereby saving weight and ensuring aerodynamic optimization. Peugeot will start selling the RCZ R in early 2014.

The fluid and potent style, fusing the force and elegance of the all-new RCZ, gives it a lively and distinct personality. Every component has been designed exclusively for RCZ R to add to its dynamic execution and recognizable style, improving the characteristics of the RCZ.

Matte black roof arches typify and embellish the Peugeot RCZ R. Its suspension is lowered by 10mm and the alloy wheels are sized 19 inches in breadth to enhance grip and give the RCZ R a dramatic stance.

Its customized alloys have a two-tone diamond/black matte, technical and athletic finish with an "R" monogram milled straightforwardly onto the visible piece of the alloy wheel. They have been created to lodge and enhance the cooling of new bigger brakes, while the red calipers at the front are marked 'Peugeot Sport'.

The superbly incorporated huge fixed rear spoiler, guarantees better downforce while extending the outline's rear profile view. A particular rear diffuser converges the sleek effect that portrays the back of RCZ and incorporates two chromed exhaust pipes, situated symmetrically, and a modified exhaust system for execution and sound.

A Peugeot monogrammed "R" in red lettering is distinguished on the grille and also situated on the boot cover as a trademark 'RCZ R'.
