Suzuki has just announced that at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show it will bring the iV-4 Concept, a compact SUV that previews a new model. According to the official press release, the iV-4 Concept will also show the direction which will be taken by Suzuki with the future model.

The new concept car was developed with a theme named “Grab your field” and as expected it will be a rival to the Nissan Juke. In terms of design, the Suzuki iV-4 Concept features a clam-shell shaped bonnet, a front grille divided into five, big LED daytime running lights and thing side mirrors.

The production version of this concept will use a shortened S-Cross platform and the car will be built in Hungary and sold in Europe.

Moreover, it will use same engines as the S-Cross lineup and will offer front and rear-wheel drive setups. More details to be revealed in September, when Suzuki will unveil the iV-4 Concept!

The first Suzuki 1970 LJ and 1980 SJ Suzuki kicked off the creation of the compact SUV segment. Through Suzuki’s extensive efforts, off-road models such as Vitara, Jimny and Grand Vitara were made.

Suzuki innovated the off-road industry in 1970 by developing compact engines instead of the off-road standard of huge engines. Suzuki produced the ultimate off-road performance by engineering lightweight bodies that weighed 600 kilograms and that featured a high reduction ratio. Their innovation was quickly followed by the SJ series, which offered a more elegant style of four-wheel drives. With their SJ series launch, Suzuki managed to draw female drivers as well.

With the core of the Suzuki compact SUV revolution as the foundations of its production, the iV-4 is the modern SUV model. It is lightweight and offers one of the lowest carbon emissions among its peers. Furthermore, the eco-friendly compact SUV boasts an ALLGRIP; the next generation in four-wheel-drive technology. This enables it to deliver the dynamic drive any SUV user would expect. With this, Suzuki assures the combination of design and off-road performance exceeding the average city SUV.

The iV-4 production model is expected to be showcased at Magyar Suzuki in 2015 and is expected to soon enter the Europe market.
