Forza Horizon 3 releases Hot Wheels expansion pack

Article by Christian A., on May 3, 2017

For those who grew up with Hot Wheels, Forza Horizon 3’s latest expansion could be the one they are waiting for. Forza Horizon 3 has long been known to offer vast landscapes and extreme cars. This latest offering is a good example of this.

The Hot Wheels says it is the best playground for cars and they can back up that claim. This expansion not only brings Hot Wheels cars to life digitally but even on the tracks. Players will be able to try the different types of loops, go through high bank turns, use boost pads, do corkscrews, and even perform truly insane jumps.

There will be a number of models included in the expansion pack like the Jeep Wrangler Trailcat concept fitted with the Hellcat engine that allows for output of 707 hp (527 kW). Included as well is the Pagani Zonda R with its V12 engine displaying power of 790 hp (589 (kW). That being said, other Hot Wheels legends will also be present, even some of the fictitious ones.

The new expansion pack was revealed with a one-and-a-half-minute teaser. This expansion pack can be purchased as a standalone upgrade for $20 and it is available on May 9, 2017. The upgrade will also have the Expansion Pass, which for $35, will have a new range of tracks and vehicles.

Introduced by Mattel back in 1968, Hot Wheels manufactures and sells die-cast toy cars in scales of 1:18, 1:50, 1:43, and 1:64. Its main rival was Matchbox but that ended in 1997 when Mattel bought Matchbox parent company, Tyco Toys. Various celebrated and well-known automakers have in fact given Hot Wheels the license to make scale models of their vehicles.

In fact, Hot Wheels was even given access to the blueprints of the original design and even the detailing. What began as a product for children to play with has grown to be a collectible with limited edition models being offered every once in a while. Hot Wheels has also partnered with major retail companies to come out with special models.

Created by Playground Games, Forza Horizon 3 is a racing video game that follows an open world format. Published by Microsoft Windows and Xbox One, the game allows for cross-platform playing between the two. The Ultimate Edition was released in late September 2016 with the Deluxe Edition and standard game released a few days later.

After it was released, the game received good reviews with Metacritic showing the Xbox One version get 91/100 average critic score and the Windows version at 86/100. Forza Horizon 3 has released a number of expansion packs with one allowing you to have a Lamborghini go across a frozen lake. There was even an expansion where a GTA Spano was offered for free.
