Pininfarina planned to mark its 80th anniversary in an uncommon style, presenting an out of the ordinary model- the open Alfa Romeo. The new 2uettottanta was reviled at Geneva Motor Show and celebrates in the same time also 100 years since Alfa Romeo was founded.
With an exclusive looks, the new sporty model represents the perfect combination between performance, style and dynamics.
Pininfarina chose the spider Alfa Romeo to highlight this special celebration as they consider it the most representative Italian automotive brand, a successful export brand, representing the inexhaustible talent that the whole world associates with Italy.
The 2uettottanta concept is a two-seats open car model is powered by a 1750cc turbo engine, measuring 1797 mm wide, 4212.6 mm long, 1280 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2500 mm.
There is not much technical information yet revealed by the company, so for the moment we can just admire it as a style and cutting-edge design statement.
The front end of the 2uettottanta underlines its true Alfa Romeo character. The design is simple, with a central line that runs smoothly along the nose of the car, while the execution of the surfaces is more sophisticated.
At the centre, in full view, the aluminium shield emerges, incorporating floating horizontal flaps. What is for sure is that this car, if ever to reach production, will only be destined to out-of-the-box thinkers.
For those involved in the creation of the Pininfarina Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta, this vehicle is not just a styling concept, but a project and a research as well. The Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta concept is aimed at fully understanding the spirit and the essence of the Spider through its conception, design, proportions and configuration.
For this study, Pininfarina gave its creative team free rein to convey the values of the Alfa spider "by Pininfarina." These are the same values that have cemented the status of the Giulietta Spider and the Duetto as all-time classics.
For the 2uettottanta, the creative team endeavored to give the concept a setup that includes a low centre of gravity and an exposed passenger compartment. This setup has allowed the car to bring the road closer to the eyes of the driver while raising the sense of dynamism even when it is cruising at low speeds.
Remarkably, the 2uettottanta effect basically encompasses the desire of the driver to possess, drive and enjoy the vehicle. The Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta is not just a concept that would surely impress onlookers but it is a thing of beauty that progressively reveals its values for the future. This was what happened with the Duetto, which is still celebrated as an icon of design even after over four decades.
