As you may know already, back in December, we told you that Skoda will unveil the Octavia Coupe Concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March. Today, the Czech manufacturer confirmed the new car and released the first sketch with the new concept.
Dubbed VisionC Concept, the new car previews the Octavia Coupe Concept and features stylish LED headlights, the well-known Skoda front grille and a new set of big alloy wheels.
The production version is expected to be based on the Volkswagen CC and just like the German coupe, the Skoda Octavia five-door coupe is expected to feature frameless doors as well as an attractive design that will differentiate it from the standard version of the Octavia.
Skoda is planning to unveil the new stunning coupé design study, new Octavia variants and new model versions at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which is slated to be on March 4 to 16, 2014.
Expected to be the highlight of the Czech carmaker’s display in Geneva is its "ŠKODA VisionC,” which is a design study of a dynamically elegant five-door coupé. Basically, the coupé study builds on and elevates the carmaker’s model and design developments in the past few years to the next level.
Furthermore, Skoda is also unveiling the new Octavia Scout and the new Skodia Octavia G-TEC with natural gas propulsion. Additionally, Skoda is showing the range-topping Octavia Laurin & Klement.
Not only that, the Czech group is unveiling three new Monte Carlo special models -- with sport trim -- for the Skoda Yeti, the Skoda Rapid Spaceback and the Skoda Citigo. Skoda chief executive Winfried Vahland remarked that with eight new or redesigned models in 2013, Skoda is right on track with its expansion and is showing its power as a brand.
He noted that with the Skoda VisionC, the carmaker heralds the next phase in its design language. He announced that Skoda will be regenerating and expanding its product range in the next years. He added that Skoda intends to hold on to its traditional values while fusing new sophisticated design and intensifying its emotional charisma.
Skoda’s kickoff point and design basis for its current model offensive had been the "Skoda VisionD" design study in 2011. Since the launch of VisionD, Skoda had successfully expanded its portfolio from just five model lines to seven.
Furthermore, Skoda was able to integrate the Citigo city car and the Skoda Rapid and Rapid Spaceback compact cars into its products range. Likewise, the Octavia is now on its third generation model, and has been posting as much as two-figure sales improvements.
Skoda has completely revamped the Yeti compact SUV and has started offering two variants -- the Yeti and the Yeti Outdoor. On the other hand, the Skoda Superb flagship also received a facelift with new design and technical features.
