Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has unveiled the latest generation long-wheel base version of the Caddy -- the Caddy Maxi Life-- at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. The fourth-generation Caddy Maxi Life targets to continue the success of the previous generations, and will be 32 cm longer wheelbase than the standard wheelbase variant.
This will allow the Caddy Maxi Life to offer two rows of seats in the passenger compartment while providing up to 530 liters of cargo space. But there is more. The vehicle features a backrest of the third row bench seat that can be folded down and a second row bench seat that can be folded forward. This configuration gives rise to more cargo space.
Not only that, the second and third rows of seats can be removed entirely to offer a cargo space of up to 3,700 liters. When only the third row seat is removed, storage space is extended to 1,350 liters. The Caddy Maxi Life literally offers an additional 848 liters of cargo space than offered in the standard Caddy Life that has its rear seats removed.
The payload for the Caddy Maxi panel van, including the driver, is up to 1,005 kg. All of the Caddy Maxi's new engines offer maximum efficiency and comply with the EU6 emissions standard. The new Caddy and Caddy Maxi also offer a number of new safety and comfort features like the ‘Front Assist’ surroundings monitoring system that includes the City Emergency Braking.
The passenger version of both the Caddy and Caddy Max features side and curtain airbags. The vehicles are equipped as standard with the ‘Multi-collision Brake System’ that automatically initiates braking if the driver could no longer take action in case of multiple collisions.
Other safety options include ‘Light Assist’ and ‘Driver Alert’ systems. Buyers could also opt for a heated windscreen.
Also making its debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show is the new 2015 Volkswagen Sharan, which received a number of technical updates, including the availability of a wide range of infotainment system, as well as convenience and assistance systems.
The new 2015 Volkswagen Sharan is now powered by engines that are now up to 15 percent more fuel-efficient. All of them also comply with the Euro-6 emissions standard. The VW Sharan can be availed with two TSI petrol engines that deliver max outputs of 150 hp (110 kW) and 220 hp (162 kW). Diesel engines are offered at three output levels: 115 hp (85 kW), 150 hp (110 kW) as well as 184 hp (135 kW). All engines, except the 115-hp TDI mill, can be mated with the 6-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG).
