The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta has arrived. Unveiled simultaneously across five locations in Europe with the main event being held in the Alfa Romeo Museum, the public finally got its first glimpse of the latest offering from the European carmaker.

Main design enhancements to watch out for in the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta is a revised front which consists of a new honeycomb grille, piano black bumper inserts which come with red highlights on sporty models, and a new headlamp and fog lamp surrounds.

These design changes would make the car more visibly connected to the styling of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia Sports saloon which is evident in the “Alfa Romeo” and “Giulietta” logos, new alloy wheel designs, tail pipes, similar colour choices (Alfa While and Lipari Grey) and the new transmission-engine combination which is expected to generate interest for UK clients.

The UK version of the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta’s model range is available with five trim levels: Giulietta, Giulietta Super, Giulietta Tecnica, Giulietta Speciale and Giulietta Veloce.

Debut of the new Alfa Romeo Guilietta is an international simultaneous event across five cities in Europe with the central event happening at the Alfa Romeo Museum (La Macchina del Tempo / The Time Machine) in Arese.

Known British DJ Skin will highlight the event and features local high-profile DJs, musicians and celebrities in the other locations: Turin, Paris, Madrid and Frankfurt. The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta will be available by April 1, 2016 with a starting price of £18,450 OTR for the base model.

Interior Design

The interior of the new Giulietta features changes in the door panel and dashboard finishes and new seat upholsteries. In addition, the new car is equipped with a state-of-the-art new Uconnect infotainment system that can be accessed by a smartphone via its LIVE services which include streaming music with Deezer and TuneIn, Facebook Check In and Twitter, News from Reuters, plus eco:Drive and my:Car services and traffic updates for models that are equipped with navigation enhancements.

A more distinct steering wheel comes with the new car as well with its new Alfa Romeo logo and version-dependent upholstery. Creating a more dynamic driving experience is the new service debuting in the new Giulietta called Alfa Performance.

The system allows drivers to control the main parameters of the car via an array of digital instruments and gauges with the resulting driving statistics being received by the driver’s smartphone.

With this customization, the driver will be able to measure the car’s performance after each tweaking which would eventually result to a more driver specific car performance. The service requires Uconnect 6.5” Radio Nav LIVE.

Of course, enhancements were made to the engine as well. The new Giulietta comes with the thrilling option of combining the 120 hp 1.6 litre JTDM-2 turbo diesel engine with the Alfa TCT twin dry-clutch transmissions.

The engine is already top notch which, due to the second-generation MultiJet technology with variable geometry turbo charger, produces 120hp at 3,750 rpm with a corresponding 320 Nm of torque even in a low 1,745 rpm.

When used with Alfa Romeo’s responsive but smooth Alfa TCT transmission, the setup can be used as full manual or full automatic depending on driver preference which can be easily toggled between the two modes by either using the steering wheel paddle shifters or slotting the gear selector into its sequential gate.

By the way, the responsiveness as well as shift patterns of the Alfa TCT transmission can be customized as well by selecting the three-mode Alfa DNA drive selector, power steering assistance.

Furthermore, adjustments can also be made to ESC and Q2 electronic differential settings along with throttle and brake adjustments in terms of responsiveness. The resulting 121 mph top speed for the engine and transmission combination is impressive, along with the recorded acceleration of 10.2 seconds from 0 to 62 mph.

On the other hand, its official combined cycle fuel-economy and emission figures are similar to that of the manual version, which boasts of 74.3 mpg (1.8 liters /100 km) and low carbon emissions of 99 g/km.
