The Audi R8 V10 may have been inspired by the Lamborghini Gallardo but one common observation among people is that it does not offer much when it comes to style. As a way of addressing this and to offer something more to those who want a more athletic look, ABT Sportsline is offering a specific package just for that.
Known around the world for tuning models from Audi, the company is coming out with the ABT R8 V10 Plus. The package is not just about appearance as ABT also put in some upgrades to the suspension, lowered some of the weight, and even modified some features of the interior.
Both the skirts in the front and the rear are now closer to the road. The front lip is complemented by the blades on the front, rear, and sides, and this helps enhance the aerodynamics. There are also wheel arch vents which not only add to the design but contribute an important function as well. To match the sportier look, ABT is offering the customers the option to choose between two wheels.
The first is the forged ABT HIGH PERFORMANCE ER-F 19-inch wheels that come in “black magic” with the second set getting the forged ABT HIGH PERFORMANCE GR 20-inch wheels that are in “anodized black.” As mentioned earlier, ABT has managed to lower the weight and while the company does not say where exactly, it claims a weight reduction of about 110 pounds.
On the inside, one big change benefits the driver. Even before actually sitting, the driver is immediately greeted with entrance lighting. Once seated, the driver will instantly feel comfortable especially with the high-quality floor mats that come with the ABT logo.
Aside from these, two improvements are evident on the interior. It is clear that the company used ABT Individual leather as its elegance is truly excellent. However, the company also combined this with the ABT Individual carbon and gave it an athletic appearance. Of course, the use of fine composite materials is just as apparent.
It does not stop there as the ABT package manages to make sure that the airflow to the engine would be optimized by using the TÜV-tested exhaust system, in stainless steel, and having the carbon double tailpipe trims. Further by having an open rear panel made of carbon, the temperature in the engine compartment is optimized while enhancing the visuals of the rear view.
Its most interesting effect would be that while the base R8 was able to offer 610 hp (463 kW), the changes made by ABT resulted in the addition of 20 hp without the need to compromise the durability of its engine.
Managing Director Hans-Jürgen Abt shares that ABT has managed to enhance further the model’s already exceptional road holding. He explains that with the package, the company did not only want to enhance the design but also made sure to improve the performance.
