For people who love Hyundai’s i30 small family car but need more space and practicality, here is good news for you: the next generation of the Hyundai i30 Tourer (also called Hyundai i30 Wagon) will be soon arriving at dealerships as the 2017 model.
Before commencing sales, the South Korean carmaker is full on its intent to officially take the veil off the third generation of the Hyundai i30 Tourer at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show scheduled next month.
But already, Hyundai has divulged some details about the 2017 i30 Tourer that it thinks would help build up interest for the small family wagon. For instance, Hyundai has revealed how large the new i30 Tourer is. Its overall dimensions measure 4,585 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width and 1,465 mm in height. When the roof rack is specified, the overall height increases by 10 mm to 1,475 mm. Meanwhile, the five-door version of the third-gen Hyundai i30 Tourer is shorter than the four-door variant at 4,340 mm. Both versions of the new Hyundai i30 Tourer boast of a wheelbase that measures 2,650 mm.
Thanks to these dimensions, the i30 Tourer is able to offer ample cargo room despite its sleek design. Typically, the 2017 Hyundai i30 Tourer offers 602 liters of space. However it can be expanded to a whopping 1,650 liters just by folding the rear seats. With this, the Hyundai i30 boasts of having one of the largest cargo spaces in the small family car segment. Interestingly, the Hyundai i30 Tourer also offers extra storage space -- with several compartments – just beneath the boot floor.
Hyundai has taken the wraps off the third-generation i30 Wagon set to become one of the most practical models in its class thanks to a massive trunk. With the rear seats in place, the compact estate designed in Germany and produced in Czech Republic can swallow as much as 602 liters of your luggage. Should you need even more hauling capabilities, fold down the rear seats and the cargo capacity will grow to a massive 1,650 liters. For the sake of comparison, the model it replaces was able to hold 528 and 1,642 liters, respectively. Expect virtually the same numbers from its sister model, the new Kia cee’d SW is likely due in 2018.
As for the core of the third-gen Hyundai i30 Tourer, customers could pick from three engines: two petrol and one diesel powerplants. Its turbocharged four-cylinder 1.0-liter T-GDI petrol engine could deliver 120 PS (118 hp) of max output. If you want more power, you could opt for the turbocharged four-cylinder 1.4-liter T-GDI petrol engine, which is able to provide at most 140 PS (138 hp) of output. Meanwhile, the available 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine is tuned to develop up to 110 PS (108 hp). Hyundai’s engine lineup for the 2017 i30 Tourer boasts of outstanding efficiency. In fact, these engines consume just between 3.6 liter and 5.8 liters of fuel per 100 km while emitting between 95 grams and 135 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.
Standard active safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking and Driver Attention Alert, as well as High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist System.
